For me, I have really just made one...cutting back on shopping for anything other than what we really need...like groceries, yearly particular supplies for our gardens, etc.
The only thing I'm having difficulty with is finding things to fill up my time to change the bad habit of browsing retailers, viewing Pinterest.
I have another few weeks before my time really starts fillling up finally with other things like sowing seeds indoors/gardening and birding when the Spring migration starts in about 6 weeks. For the next approx. month it will mainly be just reading books, housework/purging/putting holiday decor away...
YAWN...
Would love to be outdoors but it's just too cold. I'm finding the search for finding another interest or two to take up rather difficult. Other than taking an extra nap I'm at a loss. Any suggestions? For thse that have been through this, how did you get out of this state of creating better habits?

Cutting back on spending is only one of the things i need to work
on....
First however .. I really need to cut down on my sugar consumption....
Got kind of wound up in a pity party for myself .. adult child has
had to move in with us ...and I turned 70... I know .. not major
problems compared to other people ....but it had me spinning ....

@Big Joanie Sorry to hear of an adult child moving back in with you. I can only imagine it cramping your lifestyle...so to speak. As for turning 70, I can guess what you were going through I'll be 60 in a couple of years and I dread it. I had an awful time when I turned 50. I didn't join AARP til I was 52 because I was in denial...*rolls eyes*
I'll have to google lists of hobbies, breaking bad habits, etc or something to get put of the boredom/dulldrums of winter...sigh ![]()

Reduce spending
Being more friendly and more charitable to others. Sometimes I just have zero patience
Big Joanie....I know it must be hard when adult children move back home You are, however, in good company. A friend has both adult children (33 and 37) back with her...very stressful

Cut spending, limit distractions, exercise more effectively, work more productively, be more organized with my time and in general; get more done in the same amount of time. I'm really pushing myself this year and being way more ambitious with my goals. I'm not aiming for the sky but the moon.
I'm going to get everything I want this year. However, dreams don't work unless you do. I'm making sure I don't get in my own way by making sure I limit the distractions in my life in every way. I want to be as strong physically as I am mentally.
This year is about asking for what I want from life and doing the work I need to make it happen. I'm going to give people what they give me. I realized I was spending too much time making sure other people were happy and had what they needed.
This year, I'm taking care of me.

@LexPex Wow! Do they live in an area that had a natural disaster like Houston with the children not being able to move back to their homes yet due to flooding...or in CA with all the wildfires?

I've made few goals but they're "deep" if that makes any sense. For whatever reason, this holiday season brought with it a sense of...sadness and foreboding- NO idea why. In my world, I foresee some MAJOR changes happening; I hope I'm wrong. In the meantime, working on achieving these goals will bring peace.

I promised myself that I would stop being a pushover.I decided to eliminate the takers in my life who never give anything back.I will no longer allow certain people to take advantage of me.
Life is to short.I want to surround myself with people who lift me up!!

flipped a switch ....I actually had to cut way back on the distance I
