I have a friend who is retired, and has been retired for a number of years. This friend is single, no children, nor significant other. Everytime I call this friend to see if we can meet for lunch or do something together, she tells me how she's in the process of cleaning her windows, reorganizing her closet, painting the house, etc...She will have to get back to me because her "schedule" may not have time to visit with me.
Now I have known this person many many years. I am employed, don't have all the free time she has even though I am single as well. I just get miffed that she thinks she is too busy to have lunch because she can't clean her closet or wax her floor. I do not think its a case of her not wanting to go out with me for a lunch or a drink, as she is an old acquaintance, but she always has to check her "schedule". What do you think of this?
Should I be flattered when she can "fit" me into her busy schedule?
