I only opened this topic because I thought it was going to be about something totally different.
I don't understand all the interest in the royal family. They are the Kardashians of the UK, with a humanitarian twist

Well to those who are married how would you have felt if you were young and inexperienced and in love with your husband, and learned he loved another woman. Not only that , but you gave him two children , and he never even hid the fact that you were not his choice. You can try and spin Charles and Camilla into the love story of the ages, but the same people who talk about duty when criticizing Harry, may be willing to give Charles a pass. It's a tragedy how the story ended, and no one comes off looking good, ( including the Queen ), but I will always see C & C as a tawdry pair and not much of a king and queen.

I believe it was Diana's grandmother Ruth Roche, Baroness Fermoy who worked behind the scenes with the Queen Mum to get those Charles and Di together.

@beckyb1012 I had already corrected that. di

@QVCkitty1 I don't buy the "young" and "inexperienced" excuse. Diana lived in that world. I bet she knew exactly what she was getting into by marrying Charles. I might be the only person on the planet who never trusted Diana and thought she was a big nothing.

Speaking of "grandmothers" in the past few weeks I have been thinking of Alice Keppel, Camilla's great-grandmother. Can you imagine what she would be thinking right now? They say her relationship was so strong with King Edward that Queen Alexandra let her come to his deathbed.

To me it's a sad comment on Charles who was almost 30??? and didn't have the *** to marry the "woman he loved" as one of his older relatives had. I don't think he would have had to give up his right to the crown. But be honest and don't give in to the pressure of grandmothers???? Is that true??

I think she was very manipulative. She definitely presented the beautiful "peoples' princess" persona to the public, but behind the scenes she apparently was very different.
The whole "spare" issue started with her telling the kids that William would be King and Harry wouldn't. Will (as a child) said he didn't want to be and Harry said he'd do it then. She told this story - laughingly - over and over. Clearly Harry didn't get the joke.
So she tried to kill herself 5 times. Really - or was this just more attention grabbing.
She announced to the press that Charles was "jealous" of the attention she got (as Meghan now claims as well). Who does that?
Apparently she had affairs first - at least two before Charles had his - but again - she's the victim and she had to tell the world all about it.

Sad...Diana has been dead for 26 years and STILL being dragged through the mud for perceived issues.
