What IS IT with cats and paper?

I had to go to a meeting this morning and came back with a manilla envelope full of reports, etc. When I got home I tossed it on my bed and when I came back in a few minutes later, my cat was all sprawled out on top of it. He does this with newspapers too; those are his special favorites, but almost any kind of paper will do.

WHY do cats love to lay on paper so much?
