I have had terrible problems recently with Downy Fabric Softener. What I have gotten recently is so thick it is difficult to get it out of the bottle--last few bottles.
I have tried mixing it with water--and still have a hard time with lumps.
It has RUINED several really nice shirts leaving stains on them. Have you had this happen?
Have I gotten old or defective Downy? What do you use, successfully, for fabric softener? I prefer unscented.

I never use any and my clothes are very soft.

I don't use any.

I use the Shaklee line of products for the laundry. I am allergic to almost everything and scent sensitive. My husband is allergic to fabric softener but he has no reaction to the Shaklee brand.
I've read reviews of 7th Generation and Nellie's and they seem to promising products.

I use vinegar - I fill the softer container with it at the start of the wash. My clothes don't smell of vinegar, it does not leave a build-up on the clothes and it cleans the washing machine, too. I buy big gallon jugs of it at Costco for just a couple of bucks each. Best laundry change I have made in years!

Echoing many before me....
None
Haven't literally for decades.
(and no sheets, either...just wash & dry...done)

I'm one that does use it and haven't had any issues. I buy whatever major brand is on sale (the generic, off-brand ones smell awful to me), but my preferred brand is liquid Snuggle.
