What Does Aging GRACEFULLY Mean To You?

Google defines it as "living your best life by maintaining overall health and well-being". I believe it is EMBRACING the highs and lows as they present themselves while we age!😊

Helen Mirin says, "aging is a fact of life. I can't hide it. I try to live in a way that embraces aging, rather than making it seem like something that has to be hidden". She also says, I know as a woman I'm supposed to be afraid of getting older but I love this s*** so much. Every year I sink deeper into this bath of UNAPOLOGETIC realness and it's amazing".💝💝

Re: What Does Aging GRACEFULLY Mean To You?

As someone who helped take care of my grandparents and mother through dementia and infermity throughout their 80s and 90s, I really appreciated their keeping a sense of humor and steadfast faith. It was an honor to help take care of them, and I hope I can follow their example as I continue to age. That's the best I can do.

@SandySparkles ,

Just wanna say I've been thinking about you and it's so nice to "see" you.

I don't really have a good answer because I need a nice long winter's nap!:womanlol

eta-aging gracefully-

maybe continuing to love my family and friends no matter what and always try to find the light and joy in life at least once every day.

@SandySparkles Good afternoon. Glad to see you posting today. To put it short and simple, For me aging gracefully means embracing every grey hair I'm getting. And when I do get those wrinkles and sagging skin to also embrace that. That is something that I can't control and it is a part of aging so why stress over it. Stressing isn't gonna stop it from happening so embrace it. And to always try to keep my sense of humor.

Re: What Does Aging GRACEFULLY Mean To You?

Hello SandySparkles ! Great question !  Aging gracefully to me means everyday giving thanks to the Lord above first thing waking up with saying the Lords Prayer and praying blessings over my Children their spouses, my grandchildren, my siblings and all other family mbrs and friends.

Having a hx of Type 2 Diabetes for over 35 yrs I changed my lifestyle after multiple knee replacements ( 2 on the right knee due to a staph infection in 2020)  Since I lost over 70 lbs I feel so much better so I exercise, eat right to keep my blood sugar under control and I am off diabetes meds.  I take care of my skin and at 74 I have been told I look about 49 ( yes I was actually told that Woman Very Happy) My highest weigh over my 74 yrs was 254, I now weigh 126. Happy girl ! living my best life as a retired nurse and aging gracefully.  Have a blessed day SandySparkles !

Re: What Does Aging GRACEFULLY Mean To You?

@SandySparkles So happy that you are back.

Had to let go of hair dye because of health reasons. Not a believer in botox, fillers or facial surgery.  Love nice clothes, accessories, light make-up (try to keep my hair neat),  wear clean clothes daily, shower or bathing twice a day, clean house, cook and drive somewhere almost everyday.

Gracefully would mean being able to take care of myself financially, physically and be able to function without caretakers. God help us.

Growing old is not for the weak.

Knowing when is when to trying to stay young. You can only do so much and then it's pointless yet some people insist and to me that makes it look foolish...whatever that may involve.

Re: What Does Aging GRACEFULLY Mean To You?

@SandySparkles  Hi Sandy! So glad you posted today. Good question too..... For me aging gracefully is a double edge sword. I strive to stay in shape, look my best, and embraced a natural healthy lifestyle. Aging gracefully can mean different things to different people. I don't believe in giving up because of chronological age, but rather to keep trying to stay healthy and whole; in mind, body and spirit.
