Re: What Do You Think About the Latest NSAIDs Report?

I don't do twitter, but I do know you can only have a certain number of "chacters" in each tweet.

Looks like that might be happening here too. I spent lot's of time on this tablet typing a reply, only to see that a couple hours later about half of what I typed is no longer in my reply.

Now if you moderators want to "EDIT" my replies? Speak up and tell me! Deleting my posts is fine with me, but removing a words that took a lot of my brain power and lot's of my time to type them on a tablet?

2 of my posts, so far that I have found, have been edited. If that is what you plan to do to my future posts?  Let me know and there will be no future posts from me.

REMOVE THEM? I DO NOT CARE!  EDIT AND/OR CENSOR THEM?  I DO CARE AND WILL CEASE POSTING ON YOUR BULLETIN BOARD. DO WITH THIS WHAT YOU WILL, IT'S YOUR PLAYPEN, NOT MINE!

Re: What Do You Think About the Latest NSAIDs Report?

most boards will allow mods to edit posts by removing a little bit that was against the standards but leaving the post's intent in place.

I see no edit mark on the post on this thread, john  on the post you made eariler on this thread.   That said, the difference I see is the color.  It used to be bright red and now it is orange, which isn't as hard on the eyes.

I think they might have just changed your font color because on chatboards, that is usually not a polite color to use on posts - including when the font is so large and bold - it is considered screaming at other posters.   I am sure that was not what you were trying to do, but just letting you know.

OMG John,

I think you just explained something that happened to me a couple of times but I didn't figure it out yet !!!!!  I can hardly believe it....do they have the right to do that? What about the freedom of speech and press?

I have already stated my grievances about being "parented"

here on this board, but this goes way beyond that. I expect to be treated much better than this. Are we not respected as valued paying customers of QVC and just good citizens?

Well...I'll be right behind you if this type of thing is standard practice, and I hope others decide not to accept control like this. It's unheard of in our country..and on a shopping forum no less???? What is going on around here ????

Thanks for the "head's up" John and please keep us posted.

What about the freedom of speech and press?

that only applies to the government in regards to individuals.  Not a privately business owned companies....

they can do what they want to here - and  moderators editng posts is very common on chatboards - however, it should be marked as edited by the moderator with a reason - which they aren't doing - they need to do that, as that is very wrong.

Mods Editing with a reason - common, standard practice

Mods Editing with no reason - that is sneaky, underhanded, devious and wrong.

 Biancardi,

If this is the case, since we now have the choice of font size and color, then it would have been proper and much better if these things were explained to us prior to using this new format. I still don't like that someone would alter anything I write without my consent. I have no knowledge of size and color being offensive or meaning that we are "shouting" and perhaps others don't either. This definitely should be explained to ALL ! Don't just swoop in and alter our works.

It still smells bad when you say it like that and I still am not happy with these new "moderations". Perhaps we should receive a list of things that will/will not or can/ can not be done around here by the "mods" so we will all be aware of what we are to be dealing with BEFORE we decide to post here and get involved with this type of supervision. We deserve to have the choice up front, not have it cast upon us after the fact. Some people , like myself, will see it as an intrusion into our thoughts and privacy. Just treat us like adults and inform us as to what not to do and let it go at that.

Re: What Do You Think About the Latest NSAIDs Report?

I have arthritis and have been taking 550 mg of naproxen sodium once a day for years.  I would not be able to function without it.  I recently had a hip replacement and had to discontinue use of naproxen for 10 days prior to surgery.  I was allowed to take tylenol - which I did.  Although helpful, it did not work nearly as well and after my 4 week post op, I was told I could resume naproxen.  YAY!   My doctor told me also not to take more than 3000 mg of tylenol a day.  There are side effects with every drug.  I have normal cholesterol and blood pressure.  I exercise and try to eat sensibly.  Hopefully, that will offset  the use of the naproxen..

Re: What Do You Think About the Latest NSAIDs Report?

redhead87 - most chat boards have a last edited by feature and a reason (at least ones I've been on).  I wonder if they disabled it for moderators here - which is wrong.  I've only seen that done on boards where the admin is playing games with their members.

I've been a mod on other boards and rules about editing would always be clearly stated in the forum's standards and we only used it to "prune" out any content that was against board standards (for example, if there was a swear word there, it would be changed to ****) and the post would be saved, clearly showing that it was edited by the moderator with a reason why.

If they are doing that here, they need to put that practice in place and also update their community standards to say that they can edit posts.

It should not be a total rewrite - if a post is so bad, it is removed.  But minor things, like I mentioned, usually is very acceptable on chatboards.

The problem I see here is that they haven't told anyone that they are doing it nor are they marking the post as being edited.

Thank you for this reply and explanation. I can understand these things you mentioned although I was never aware of it happening on the prior Forum myself. However, I have absolutely NO knowledge of anything like that happening here or rather any of us being told of these practices, and I certainly think it is only right and appropriate that we be made aware of any such rules and regulations at the opening of this new Forum. They gave us certain statements and details they asked us to read before implementing this but neglected to give us any rules or explanations about changes or alterations from the older Forum to this one.

I certainly am unhappy about how this is being handled and a few other changes. Obviously I am not alone.  I do appreciate you speaking to this issue in this part but I hope and desire they get on with doing something to let ALL of us know what is expected, allowed and now disallowed here.

There is much to think about concerning the workings of this new format. We are all having headaches just trying to work the new changes .

Thank you for explaining what you offered today.

Re: What Do You Think About the Latest NSAIDs Report?

My doctor told me to stop taking Aleve for my arthritis pain about a month ago at my check-up. I was only using about 3 a WEEK...for when the pain and stiffness got bad. I am not on any kind of medication and have a normal blood pressure.

For those who liked Voltaren....they have it in a gel now.

My Dr gave me a sample...but reading about the side effects...I don't think I am going to use it...

I totally agree that the mods need to communicate better and let us know what the changes are.
