I think that the critical element is whether the frame fits her decor and taste. And is she someone who displays framed photos in her living space? If a frame doesn't work for her, no matter how lovely it is, you might consider donation in her honor to her favorite charity.

@ciao_bella - I agree with others- it's beautiful and such a thoughtful gift! I wouldn't worry about it not fitting in with her decor. She will appreciate you and put it where she wants! 

If I were you I would write a sweet note to her and enclose it in the space, telling her she can put her own picture in that space in place of your note.

@Desert Lily  You can always have a favorite picture resized to fit any frame you want for a nominal fee at a photo printing service or print it at a local photo lab

Thank you!  When looking for picture frames, I thought this particular one was the most 'generic/neutral'  for lack of better words, yet unique and different enough, and would most likely fit in with most homeowner's decor, no matter the room it would be displayed in.

It's beautiful @ciao_bella.  I decided long ago that not every single item needs to be matchy-matchy.  You should see my bedroom and bathroom.  One would think they stepped out of one house and into another.   Most anyone would appreciate the gesture and love to use it for a loved one's photo.

And if she doesn't have a photo to fit the frame?

She can take one and have it printed for like 20 cents or if she has a photo printer, print it herself on photo stock.
