I always told my mom that I wanted to be a mommy. Well my dream came true. I need no career other than being a ""mommy"" to my kids. That's fulfilling enough for me.

moonstone, I too wanted to be a nun (I'm not Catholic), even collected Holy pictures from those who attended funerals,,,had three nun dolls on my bed. If not a nun I wanted to be an Indian. Saved my 'slight' allowance for two years and sent for an authentic headdress (neighbors had visited out West and brought back a brochure from a store out there). Took the beautiful headdress to show and tell in second grade. Loved feathers and glitz so I went with longing to be an Indian. I did however manage to ride and show horses throughout my grade school and high school years. Loved every minute of it. Miss it still. Once horses are 'in your blood' they stay forever.

I wanted to be a nurse because my Grandmother was a nurse. I even went to the same nursing school she did. However she quit when she had her first child and didn't go back until 20 years later during WW11 when they desperately needed nurses. I worked in one capacity or another for 42 years. Part time, agency, full time, ICU , dialysis.

Then, in high school, I wanted to become a travel agent. My dad kept telling me I had to go to college first. First job out of college was at a college, then non-profit organization, then back to college campus. I used my business education degree to work in non profit and teaching business education. I used graduate degrees working in higher education. I always thought I'd retire and become a travel agent -- but the Internet took care of that opportunity! I feel good about my career direction. Don't think I'd do anything differently.
We used to travel a lot when I was a kid. I remember being on a TWA flight to London when I was seven years old and the stewardess gave me some kid's wings that I still have. I decided then that that is what I was going to do when I grew up. Over the years I've been a flight attendant for a few different airlines. TWA was the first one I worked for. Although I've done a few other jobs in between flying jobs, I never wanted to do anything else. It's been a great ride and I wouldn't change a thing.
A friend has two sisters who are attendants for Am. Airlines out of Dallas. One has a regular route to Hawaii and the other speaks French and flies internationally. I still think I would have enjoyed this career. Glad you love it.

Wife and mommy.
Never occurred to me (child of the 1950s) to work outside the home, yet I did for over 30 years.

In my early teens I thought about being a beautician. Before I graduated high school I wanted to be a journalist or a psychologist. None of those happened. Instead, I was an administrator for a state agency and later director of public relations for a state agency. I am now retired.

Teacher and mother.
I've accomplished one. Would still love to do the other, but most teachers are retiring at my age. :-( I would do things so differently if I knew then, what I know now.

Based on the great teachers I had in elementary school, I thought I wanted to be a teacher. However, the farther along I got in high school, the more I realized I didn't like being around little kids. plus I had absolutely no interest in going to college and spending more time in a classroom.
