Or did the missing girl's boyfriend, the football player, and the neighbor of the one student do it? It's already surmised that the husband was fooling around with the student...so did he kill her?
Lots of twists and turns in this one.
I also have a problem with they way this is filmed. I can only speak for myself, but it is either very darkly processed or the lighting is off in a lot of scenes.
I think it's darkly processed because it's a dark drama. The main character, defense attorney/professor, isn't all that likeable for a reason. Fortunately I don't have to "like" the characters to become intrigued with a show. Some shows, yes, and that's what keeps me coming back. Other shows it's the plot lines-and this is one of them.

Question ...... The scene where the student went to her office (or home?) and disturbed her with the detective ...... at one point she picked up the phone and scolded someone for not locking up .... any idea who she was talking to?

The phone call was to the male assistant of hers. Frank? I haven't learned the names yet so that may not be accurate-

I totally agree with you. I had to record it, watched it last night, and actually liked the show a lot, but then I like dark and mysterious thrillers. I think the writers did a good job considering that there is only so much back-story they can tell in a one hour season opener. There was nothing to indicate that the students killed the husband, only that they were disposing of the body. The thing to keep in mind is that happened 3 months after the first day of class, so there is lots of story telling to happen between then and now. I think Viola is a fantastic actress and agree she is not supposed to be an easily likeable character. I don't think she killed her husband, rather my first instinct is that her boyfriend/detective did it. Her comment at the end that the boyfriend always does it was meant to be foreboding and not just pertaining to the murder of the co-ed. I'm sure the husband was having an affair with the dead girl. Also I think the scenes in the woods were shot to be dark because it added an air of suspense, they didn't want to get caught while the student bonfire was going on and lots of people were about. I thought it was interesting that the one law student was holding the immunity statue, I think that will play into the plot somehow. As the professor says, "Do you ever really know someone?", I think all the students under her internship have a dark side and I'm curious to see just how far each one will go to get what they want. I'm definitely going to stay tuned, these days so many tv shows are predictable and sappy, I like one that has twists and turns and keeps the viewer guessing.

I really like the show. It's a continuing series so some of the questions asked are things that will be answered in upcoming episodes. It seems some of you prefer a weekly program where everything is wrapped up at the end of every episode and that isn't this show.
I didn't find anything confusing about this at all and wasn't bothered by the dark lighting in many of the episodes.
Annalise really turned out to be manipulative. There is some reason her boyfriend got up on the stand and perjured himself by saying the security footage from the drugstore could have been altered. She has a hold on him with something and I doubt it's just his affair with her. That's why I'm thinking he possibly murdered her husband.

I think the confusion was the flash forward device that many shows are using now. If you are not used to it, it is very confusing. I have seen it enough now to understand that you just have to keep watching and all is made clear.

Scottie I think a lot of the problem is that people aren't actually sitting and paying attention to the show. This isn't a show where you can be off cleaning the kitchen or doing laundry. This is a show you have to pay attention to from beginning to end.

Hi LD, yes, I get that. But I was watching without distraction and I still was going "what's happening?" And then I realized it was the flash forward device. But it went on longer than they usually do. I knew enough from past experience to keep watching but I can see why it confused some people.

Unless I'm really wrong here, I believe her husband said "I think the boyfriend did it". Then they panned to Analisse looking at him and then sideways. It indicated to me, she knew who did it, if not herself, then someone she manipulated to do it.
She is a totally manipulative woman, but very smart. Not likeable at all, as of yet. Good defense lawyers often are not likeable.
This show isn't a cut-and-dried type of show. As someone said, if you are a viewer who likes a show to be tied up and done at the end of each episode, then you will dislike this show because this one leaves you hanging and guessing until the end of the season. There is a lot going on in this show. Lots of undercurrents.
Each of the students she picked are hungry, want to be the winners, top dogs, essentially wolves, that is WHY she picked them, plus she is a master manipulator and already knows their weaknesses. None of these people are likeable. Maybe the kid, but I suspect he may be someone more than what is showing in the first episode. The very fact he was a student picked to be in the class at the last minute was suspect.

I don't mind a show that doesn't tie up lose ends per se. I LOVED LOVED LOVED the best show of all time "Breaking Bad". I love Blacklist.
Perhaps it's the direction they are apparently taking this show, when I thought it was going to be about something entirely different is what has me disappointed as far as the "continuing" aspect.
I thought this was going to be a series about this amazing Professor teaching law students how to be good defense lawyers. I didn't expect it to be about her husband getting murdered and the students covering it up.
Plan on watching it next episode to see if I can readjust to the plot LOL. But maybe one more time is all I will want.
