There were too many issues introduced in too short of a time-frame...most scenes were filmed in the dark...had trouble identifying the different students...too much jumping back and forth among stories. The lawyer/teacher is not someone I would like to get to know. I guess time will tell with this show!!
I have similar thoughts/feelings about it. I'll try to watch it another couple of times before I decide whether or not I want to keep up with it. My take on new programs is that the first episode seems to exaggerate characters, just to make a point about what kind of people they are.

I agree with tansy, "convoluted."

So I kept wondering why a couple of the actors looked so familiar but just couldn't place them. Wes is the same guy who played Dean Thomas in the Harry Potter movies. And Bonnie played Paris Geller on Gilmore Girls.

I can't decide if I'll continue to watch or not. It started out good and then just got too convoluted. It's certainly not what I thought it was going to be. Will probably watch next week to give it another shot.
I didn't see Viola Davis on the View. She is a great actress for sure.
Sushimom, one of the students plays the guard involved with one of the inmates on Orange is the New Black.

I agree that she was so "into" herself that it gave me reservation..... I watched it anyway and found her someone who was really full of herself as a character, also.....
Was it her husband who those 4 students killed and burned? I wasn't sure....

I liked it - it kept my interest. I did find it too physically dark at times. The shots filmed could have used a tad more light. I love Viola Davis and think she is a fabulous actress. As did Complicated, I loved the local footage. I work in downtown Philly at a law firm so it was fun to see City Hall both outside and inside. I was surprised to see that they filmed inside City Hall as well. Complicated, I didn't recognize the law school - was it Villanova?

I'm a long-time fan of Viola Davis, it was the writing I questioned.
