It sounded good but was really awful. I read 29% and realized that I didn't want to read one more word, so I deleted the book from my Kindle.
Next I am going to read All I Love and Know by Judith Frank. It sounds really good. Has anyone read it yet?
Have a great weekend and happy reading.
Haven't read Judith Frank but on my list!
Just finished Danielle Steel's Power Play. Just an ok book by her.
Up next The Vacationers by Emma Straub. Loved her first one too.

I liked the beginning, and the way the author tied up the loose ends at the conclusion, but you're right, the middle was a bit draggy. Thanks for the recommendation. All in all I enjoyed it.

I am temporarily putting aside Iron Houses by John Hart which I have but DH got my library book The House Where We Grew Up In by Lisa Jewell so will read that until I have finished it and then pick up Iron Houses (purchased). I am already totally into the library pick and think it will be a favorite.

Overall, I was very disappointed and would not recommend this book. It started out well, but had a thin plot and started to drag in the middle, leading to a convoluted ending.
Sometimes it's best not to interfere with something that's already perfect. Agatha Christie was one of a kind. Leave her alone. And her characters. And those wonderful plot lines. Please.

Now I'm reading "Unbroken" by Laura Hillenbrand, because I promised my aunt, the one who was widowed to whom I send my favorite books. She told me it's her favorite book ever and made me promise to read it. I know it's one of the bestselling nonfiction books of all time, and much beloved here and everywhere. I'm having trouble getting into it but I'm hopeful because where there's this much love for a book it has to be awesome.
I had trouble at first, lori. I actually knew nothing about the book and once I have a book I never read the dust jacket for fear of spoiling the story. But I knew it was good so I kept going. Then, I stopped reading and went to the dust jacket and read that 'it's non-fiction'! I thought it was a novel. Well, I don't read much non fiction but I couldn't ignore all the accolades so I kept on, and got to really like this Louie guy, and then couldn't wait till he got into the service and then I couldn't put it down. Don't give up on it, please.
I tried three different times to finish (maybe not enjoy but at least finish) Unbroken. I promised my sister-in-law I would try that third time and this past week-end I told her I am sorry but I cannot do it. It is over and done for me. I read about five books a week so that says a lot if I cannot get "into" that book.

Actually, Becky, I'm overdo in posting heartfelt thanks to SkyBlue, Linders Back and Judaline for urging me to stick it out with "Unbroken.".
I'm a third of the way through and utterly engrossed. Now I get why this book is one of the bestselling nonfiction books of all time.
It happened just like you said, Jud. I got to love Louie and then he entered the service and I was HOOKED! Thanks for the great advice. I am loving the book, loving him, and learning a lot about history that somehow was not taught to me in a meaningful way in high school or college.
I realize now I never even knew what happened at Pearl Harbor, or even where it is -- what else don't I know?
The book is amazing.
