Started listening to Dreams from My Father: a Story of Race and Inheritance written back in the 1990's by a young Harvard student. The audiobook is read by him and is wonderful. His history is so interesting with background of Midwest grandparents who were always chasing the sun West to find new adventures, and the the locales of Indonesia and Hawaii figuring in his childhood. A very powerful view of growing up in a Multi-racial family (albeit without the titular figure present) in America during the late 1960's told with equal touches of humor and introspection.

I'm reading Jean Kwok's Mambo in Chinatown and it's SPECTACULAR.
I adored her previous book (Girl in Translation), but I'm so impressed that this Mambo book is on a completely different level. The new book has more depth, and the characters are so unique, so memorable. (The narrator, for instance, is an average-looking young woman whose hair poufs out unattractively. Her mother was a dancer, but she's not. The narrator is insecure and needy. I'm enraptured!)
I'm only about a hundred pages in, but I just had to report that it's a valuable read.

I just finished Mr. Miracle by Debbie Macomber. It appears that I am beginning my holiday reading far earlier than normal. It was cute and heartwarming, but really lacked character development and left a few story lines hanging. It's hard to rate because I liked what I read, but there was enough to read--
I also finished Rock Chick Revolution by Kristen Ashley. It was nice to re-visit some of my favorite characters EVER!
Now, I am reading Iron House by John Hart, Leaving Time by Jodi Picoult, and Mathilda, SuperWitch by Kristen Ashley.

FYI I finished Iron House and it wasn't near as good as his book The Last Child which I loved. As for Leaving Time it was like her last 3--awful!! Sorry but that is just me!!

Can anyone tell me if they read ""The Shell Seekers"" and your thoughts? I know I have seen on here somewhere that others have read it but cannot find it--maybe it was last month.
