Thank you Lainey for leading us into March.
Just finished Bleed for Me by Michael Robotham. A series involving a psychologist with Parkinson's solving a crime with a retired detective set in the UK. The doc's 14 year old daughter's best friend is accused of killing her father. He is found murdered in her bedroom and she was covered in blood with no recollection. Bit by bit you learn of the teen's secret life that no one knew about. The father was a decorated ex policeman to the outside world but sechually abused his daughter behind closed doors. Her male drama teacher who all the female students have a crush on. The guidance counselor who has troubles of her own. I enjoyed the series very much.
Just started Girl on the Train that everyone raved about here. I'm really looking forward to dwelling further.

All the Light We cannot See is up next for my book club. Ordered it from Amazon as the library wait list was too long.
A friend just finished The Sea House by Elizabeth Gifford which sounds like it will be right up my alley. Historical fiction shifting between the present and past on a remote island in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland:
"In 1860, Alexander Ferguson, a newly ordained vicar and amateur evolutionary scientist, takes up his new parish, a poor, isolated patch on the remote Scottish island of Harris. He hopes to uncover the truth behind the legend of the selkies--mermaids or seal people who have been sighted off the north of Scotland for centuries. He has a more personal motive, too; family legend states that Alexander is descended from seal men."
Fast forward 100 years when a young couple buys the old dilapidated parish house and uncovers a skeleton of a baby buried beneath the house!
Lori, is this the cover? I would have bought the one Sydney posted but maybe not this:

Ahahahahahahahahahaha, yes, Linders Back, that's the one. I'm such an idiot sometimes.
Speaking of being an idiot, how do you copy covers? I tried a few ways and couldn't do it, LOL.

lainey, thank you for continuing to start a new thread each and every month for all this time. Especially since you are not reading much yourself right now as you say. So nice of you. I hope you can get your reading groove back!
I just picked up and started Once We Were Brothers, by Ronald Balson. Another WWII novel. Just when I think I can't possibly read another book with the Nazis and holocost as the backdrop, I hear of another I must read.
Before that I read The Mill River Recluse. I must say I thought it was dreadful. Trite and very amateurish. The writing sounded like a middle school student. ![]()
I also read Black River by S. M. Hulse which I thought was pretty good and enjoyed it. It could have been better but at least the writing was adult. Actually it was quite a young woman writing from the POV of a 60 year old man and she did that very well.

I loved Once we Were Brothers. I have been waiting patiently for another novel from him, but so far nothing. When I went to his website, he wrote how he already had the movie cast (in his mind). Boy, that's optimism.

I just opened another window in Safari and then dragged this picture from there. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

I think that is why I love books so much - they touch us all differently.
