Re: What Are You Reading --- January 2014

I'm reading Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor, the first in the Friday Harbor series by Lisa Kleypas. I'm a fan of Kleypas' romance novels, and this is a nice romantic Christmasy short novel.

smkymtngl, thank you for the tip on 44 Scotland Street. I am reading and enjoying it a lot. Alexander McCall Smith's name is not unfamiliar to me, but I really can't remember reading any of his works before. I like his style. Not usually a fan of different characters and getting into their stories before I can get back to the main plot, and except for Maeve Binchy, I stay away from such books. But this one is just precious.

Just finished We Are Water, Wally Lamb, Killing Jesus, Bill O'Reilly, and

Takedown Twenty, Janet Evanovich.

Last night I started Karen Kingsbury, Fifteen Minutes.

44 Scotland Street started as a weekly serial in the Edinburgh newspaper. I have listened to many in this series as audiobooks while on road trips. They are perfect for that as you don't really have to concentrate or worry about where you leave off, you just are entertained. I love Bertie.

Linders Back, I meant to edit my response to say there was another poster here who first recommended the book to me. Perhaps that was you, so thank you for that!

And, I've been meaning to tell you that I love the quote you have from Sleepy Hollow. I love that show, too.

Hi Smoky, I was the one who told you about the Scotland Street books, a while back. I'm so glad you and Judaline are enjoying them. Just wait, they get better and better! Lots of interesting things happen to our friends on that street.

Thank you Dawg lover! I'm so sorry for not remembering. I enjoyed the first one tremendously and am looking forward to continuing the series. I love books with a variety of characters and I'm in awe of all the distinct personalities Alexander McCall Smith has been able to create.

Finished Revenge Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger. I liked it. Got horrible reviews; wasn't as bad a sequel as others I've read.

Up next is The Astronauts Wives Club (nf) by Lily Koppel.
