I just finished Gray Mountain by Grisham and was somewhat disappointed. Guess I was expecting more. Strip Mining in Coal Country Appalachia. It could have been great, but it just wasn't. Maybe there will be a sequel and he can finish what he started, or if his female protagonist can, that is. I would probably read to see if there might be a better conclusion.

Unsure what I'm going to pick up next. Maybe All The Light We Cannot See.

I thought GRAY MOUNTAIN was a bit of a snoozer. I never warmed up to the main character for some reason./p>

tansy - I was so interested in the topic and the issues. But I agree, the main character was lacking in something to me. I really think Grisham can do better.

Linders Back, I'm reposting this because we posted at the same time: "The Garden of Evening Mists" is so slow it's like I can feel the flowers and trees growing in real time, LOL.

Smoky, you beat me to Flavia! I'm saving her for when I need a major pick-me-up. Can't wait to hear your impressions.

Anybody read "The One I Left Behind" by Jennifer McMahon, and if you did, and I hope you did, how was it?

I personally think this is probably her best; it was funny(Madeline was a riot!) and compelling all at the same time. Could not put it down Smiley Happy

Just got "First Frost" by Sarah Addison Allen from the library. I love her books. Hope this one is as good as "Garden Spells."

I also just finished "The Girl on the Train.". A quick and interesting read. If you liked "Gone Girl" and its twists, you will like this one, too.

I've got a few chapters left on an old Jack Reacher (Lee Child) book and then I'm starting The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry.
