First of all I'd like to wish a very Merry Christmas to those of you who celebrate, and to everyone I wish a very happy and healthy New Year!!

I must be the only person in the world who pulled the bookmark on All the Light we Cannot See. As hard as I tried, my mind just couldn't get into it. Maybe I'll do what I did with Stones from the River. I tried reading it three or four times and gave up on it, but the next time was the charm and I wound up loving it.

I also pulled the bookmark on What we Leave Behind, by Rochelle B. Weinstein. It got some good reviews and I thought it sounded interesting, but it was a stupid book that read like it was written by a 14-year old. I wasted valuable reading time on this one, reading almost half the book before I thought "NO MORE!" I'm not going to do that again, I hope.

Tonight I'm going to start The Book of you by Claire Kendal. It sounds good (here we go again) {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

Happy reading!

REALLY??? I am really enjoying ALL THE LIGHT YOU CANNOT SEE!! Depending on the ending, it may land on on my "Best Books of 2014"! I am hooked!

Lately I have not found any books that really really hold my interest. I may go ahead and finish them, but they don't do much for me. The last book I enjoyed was Killing Jesus by Bill O'Reilly. I usually like mysteries with romance and espionage, but nothing has come along lately. Have any of you felt that way? Maybe I just need to take a book break!

I just finished reading Falling from Horses by Molly Gloss. I waited for months to get this from the library. It was an enjoyable read about the stunt men (westerns) in the movie business in the late 1930's.

I'm reading The Hearts of Horses, the prequel to Falling From Horses, by the same author. It is really good. I loved Bud's parents, and that's why I was anxious to read the prequel. You should give it a try.

Finished Elin Hilderbrand's Winter Street. A fast read. Usually don't read Christmas books. Love family books and this was one of those dysfunctional ones w/problems and an ex-wife. She usually doesn't have the main character as a man so it was a welcome change.

Onto Kaya McLaren's The Firelight Girls.

Re: What Are You Reading --- December 2014

Regarding All the Light We Cannot See, I just couldn't get into it. I know several people enjoyed it, but it's not for me. I didn't like the way it sounded when it first came out, but I caved because it became so popular. I'm not one to read the most popular books out there, like Gone Girls. I really despised all the main characters and didn't care what happened to them. I read the whole thing which was a total waste of my time.

Maybe I'm just tired of reading holocaust books. I do read a lot of them, and I think it's time to take a breather.

I'm almost done with The Book of You by Claire Kendal. It's about a young woman who is being stalked by a seksual predator. It's scary and easy reading, I'm really enjoying it.

Happy New Year to all my reading friends {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

Re: What Are You Reading --- December 2014

I finished Burial Rited by Hannah Kent. Big book in 2014, very well reviewed, huge seller.

It was an okay read but at the end I was left wondering, what was the point? I had to put up with such a lot of detailed description, place names and characters, and I expected the story to build but it just petered out. The reveal at the end was a total letdown.
