Just read a very good book called Her by Harriet Lane. It was a British mystery that was different than the usual. I highly recommend it. I found it on the new book shelf at the library.

I just started Born with Teeth, by Kate Mulgrew. It is a memoir.

I just finished The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons (WWII in Russia), The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah (WWII in France), All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr (WWII in France), and Boys on the Boat by Daniel James Brown (1936 Berlin Olympics). Needless to say, I have been reading a theme and have enough information to write a great comparative paper on the subject if needed. Now, I need a break from WWII, but the other books on my to-read pile are all about serial killers and vampires… Where are the puppies and flowers?

Catching up and continuing my nosy streak into other people's business with two past memoirs.

Orange is the New Black finally came off hold after about 2 years at the library and I also just finished Pieces of my Heart by Robert Wagner. Recommend the OITNB memoir just for its original story even after watching the Netflix show but Robert Wagner was more impressive to me before I read his book. If you like a memoir with all kinds of Hollywood name dropping and antics especially those from the glory days, then Mr. Wagner is for you.

Off to the library tomorrow to re-up the bookshelf!

Reading The Edge of Honor by KT Bryan. This was a free Kindle book I received from the author because I posted a review on Amazon for her last book!

These are the books I've read in the past month. Some of these books are rather old (I only purchase used books), and they're a mixture of fiction and non-fiction. I'm giving them a grade as if I'm a teacher, lol.

One From the Hart - Stefanie Powers. Autobiography. Just so-so, not that insightful. C

Cut Your Grocery Bills In Half - Economides. Nonfiction book about frugality. Good information, but nothing new. B

At Home With Books - Ellis, Seebohm, Sykes. Nonfiction. Beautiful coffee table book about home libraries. Great for bibliophiles. A

It's All Too Much - Peter Walsh. Nonfiction book about clutter and organizing. Good, helpful information. A-

Thyme of Death - Susan Wittig Albert. Cozy mystery novel - first in series. Decent characters and plot. B

The House of Wittgenstein - Alexander Waugh. Biography/History. Story of the Wittgenstein family of Austria, covering about 100 years. Interesting family, though the book was a tad slow-going. B

Hand to Mouth - Linda Tirado. Nonfiction. Very interesting take on one woman's experience being poor in America. B+

The Unexpected Mrs. Pollifax - older spy novel - first in series. A bit too implausible and silly for my taste. C

Does Wagner seem guilty of causing Natalie's death? I read a biography about Natalie several years ago, and it sure implicated him.

I think it's ridiculous that they keep bringing this up-saw two Enquirer, or whatever rag that is at the grocery, articles saying he was being arrested, blah, blah, blah. How could he murder her when Christopher Walken was right in the next room? They'd all had too much to drink. And do you think he'd murder the mother of his lovely daughters? It's all talk and sensationalism. Just let her rest.

i just got my three day warning (from the library) that my book, The Rosie Effect, was about to expire and I'm only halfway through it. As much as I liked the first Rosie book, this one is incredibly repetitive and boring. The only way I'm going to finish it is by skimming to the end. A book from Rosie's point of view might be more interesting.

I also preferred The Rosie Project. If you want to keep your library loan longer, simply turn off the wifi on your Kindle, or place it in Airplane Mode. The book will be returned to the library, but will stay on your Kindle until you reconnect to wifi.
