Re: Went down another music rabbit hole...

@Susan Louise - I go down rabbit holes all of the time! Something comes up in discussions about songs, groups, etc. Then I have to find it on YouTube. Then I have to find another one, etc., etc.!

I love all decades of music. When I was very young, my parents would eat later, after my mom fed us. Frank Sinatra records would play, over and over. From that I grew to love the works of Cole Porter.

But my favorite musical decade is the 70's - Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Chicago, etc.

When I play the TV music games I draw a blank on anything from the past decade! And for the most part, I'm glad I do!   Smiley Wink

Re: Went down another music rabbit hole...

Funny, I was just thinking about Frampton today. The first time I saw him perform was in March 1975 at the Spectrum in Philly. He opened for John Entwistle's OX and Humble Pie. ( Frampton's former band) The show was billed as Humble Pie's farewell tour.

Although he didn't headline, Frampton performed all the Frampton Comes Alive songs in his set. The show was a "dance concert/general admission"on the floor, and we were right up front for the show. Memories. Sigh. ❤

Another Peter Frampton fan here.  I loved that song, Baby I love Your Way.  He's still got it.  Even though he's older.

@Snoopp I saw him in concert too back in 1977 or so. What a cutie he was. Did you know that he is not well? I recently read that he suffers from a degenerative condition that requires him to use a cane.  He is still determined to tour and record.

As far as the best music? Definitely the 60s/70s.

Yes, I saw an interview with him and he is unwell.  He has an upbeat spirit though...he seems like a lovely person.

Re: Went down another music rabbit hole...

I am a big music fan and go down that rabbit hole most every day. I'm a Pandora subscriber so I'm always looking for some different playlists and Peter Frampton's era is the one I go to most times. When they suggest new artists and I take a listen, rarely do I find anything that interests me. I think it makes a difference in music where the musicians actually play instruments instead of having it electronically added. I'd like to say "my" music is different from today's because I could understand the words but that's not always so. Still don't understand lots of the songs from the 70s, even though I loved them. Just seems that the words/songs today have no substance.

Today it started with Peter Frampton's 'Baby I Love Your Way'...

Listening to music from the past is always bittersweet for me...

GAWD, how I miss those days...

And yet...

The 70's & 80's music is and always will be THE BEST...

I love the 60s and 70s music. It's rare to find great artists like we had back then. Bittersweet is the correct word....songs take me back to specific times, activities, people, etc.

Re: Went down another music rabbit hole...

@beach-mom  I like a lot of different kinds of music, going back as far as the 50's.

I have a lot of old records and CD's but with my Amazon Echo, I now ask Alexa to play songs for me.

Two of my favorite groups are The Eagles and Fleetwood Mac.

I had never been to any of their concerts until 2018. I went to an Eagles concert and a Fleetwood Mac concert in Boston.

I agree with you about the 60's songs.  What other decade had such a great variety of songs that ranged from love songs to anti-war songs.   The Doors is my favorite band.

My Mother loved to drag Broadway on the weekends with her three children in the back of her 1968 Mustang, she adored The Doors.  I really like them too, but when Riders On The Storm came out in 1971 it scared me have to death.
