Re: Well, I’ll be darned- Wegman’s

I love shopping at Wegmans, and I HATE grocery store shopping, LOL!!

I don't shop there that often because their prices can be a little higher than other stores, but they have items you just can't get in other places. Their prepared food section offers a large selection of choices. They have a nice international food section. I especially love their fresh produce and bakery departments. They have a rather large cafe that I've never actually tried, but I have ordered their made-to-order hoagies from their sub shop and they are excellent!

They also have a section that offers seasonal decorations and home items. They have a really nice area for books, magazines and greeting cards, too.

The best thing about Wegmans is that it's always immaculately clean.

Our county just approved building of a Wegman's in an abandoned office park just minutes from my home.  I have to wait until the spring of 2022 for it to be built.

@ninjawife  I am excited for this, 5 miles from my house!

@lmt  I have to mention that the people who work there seem happy to be there. I heard they treat their employees well. I was there one morning and in the produce department about 15 employees were gathered getting ready to do tai chi.

I am about 20 minutes from Wegsmans.  They have the freshest seafood and their own brand of canned corn and green beans is the best over any other name brand and only .50.  Potatoes are $1.99 for a five lb bag.

Sometimes other fresh  fruits and veggies are a bargain.  Everything is fresh and the store is clean, but for the most part, they are expensive.

They are good store to shop in when you need something different, and not available in your regular grocery store. Their international food section is massive.

it's a fun store to shop in if you have a ton of money to spare.

@Carmie  I agree the prepared foods are expensive but you are paying for that convenience. Regular grocery items are priced comparable to shop rite.

Re: Well, I’ll be darned- Wegmans

I grew up in Ithaca and our Wegmans had a place to drop off your child for one hour while you shopped. This was a free service and the kids loved it. For Halloween they had trick or treating, all the departments handed out candy. At Christmas time they do gingerbread house making for children which is free also. They are smart by having different reasons to get you in their store because they know you will shop. In their food court during the week there is live music at night while you eat.

i was born and raised in rochester, ny (home of wegmans) and have moved around the country a lot in my adult years, but have never stumbled upon a store quite comparable to wegmans.   i'm so pleased to hear that they have inched their way into GA and i can only wish that some day they might show up here in FL.

Wegman's is close to my son's house.  I stopped in on my way there to buy a treat for my grandchildren.  I bought four regular size cookies consisting of two oatmeal raisin and two chocolate chip.  I paid almost $12 for them....$3 each!  They are way more expensive than the grocery store I usually shop in.

Re: Well, I’ll be darned- Wegman’s

The floral section, as others have mentioned - fab!  Ours has several floral artists who make the most incredible creations.  Their flowers last a VERY long time too.  When I give them as gifts people always call to ask who is my secret florist who gets me the longest-lasting blooms in town!

Their baked goods are more expensive than other grocery stores but less expensive than a bakery.   I am more than willing to pay for baked goods made with quality ingredients.  I despise Crisco/shortening and I can not stand the mouthfeel of it.

As someone who grew up extremely brand loyal so I was unsure about W own brands, but I have been pleasantly surprised.

My DH prefers W organic ketchup to Heinz!

In other grocery stores, I only shop name brands, but in W I have learned to trust their brands especially their organic line.

Love Wegman's!

They are coming to Westchester County, NY, this spring.  When I lived in NY, I would drive to the new one in Montvale, NJ.

On my way back to DE on Sunday, I did stop at the Montvale store to stock up ($180 later!).  Where I live now, the supermarkets are yucky.  Woman Tongue

OMG Wegmans has now done everything to jump right over me in NY. They're to the west, east over in Massachusetts and now south.
