I love Wegmans!  However I wish it was closer to me....there is one half an hour away in one direction and another half an hour away in another direction.

Then there is another one about 40 minutes away where I meet up with an old friend several times a year....we get lunch & sit upstairs and talk for a long time.

OMG @haddon9 I do the same with 2 of my friends, we made a day of it at Wegmans.

@panda1234   It's a great place to meet!

They all have a wonderful upstairs area for relaxing and getting something to eat....nice & bright too!  My friend lives little more than an hour away and meeting up at Wegmans is sort of halfway...then when we're ready to leave I can get some shopping done!  Smiley Happy

Re: Well, I’ll be darned- Wegman’s

I agree about the branding.  It is frustrating to me.  Regular shopping i don't go there.  For some produce and seafood yes.  I can't speak to there meat cause i buy almost none.  I buy a lot from the prepared foods area because i am lazy. But it is the same food all the time.  Can't tell you when they last added something new.  They are a genius at presentation I think.  You go in and you feel like ooooh look ta this like it is something you have never seen before.  LOL, it's fruit.  LOL.  People flock to our store in VA.

Re: Well, I’ll be darned- Wegman’s

[ Edited ]

I used to live in Rochester, NY (where the first Wegmans is) and was so thrilled when they opened some stores in Northern Virginia. Alas, I have moved to Arizona and still miss that place. I am glad to see that they are expanding and would be thrilled if they started moving west. I know we would never get one in the small town I live in now, but I do a monthly trip to Tucson to hit Costco, Trader Joe's (and In and Out Burger), and could happily add Wegmans to the list, but I don't think it will happen while I am still driving. Enjoy your store!!!!

Even when I lived in VA, when my parents would come to visit me, they always wanted to put Wegmans on our list of things to do, right up there with the monuments in DC!!!

Oh - and since I don't really care about baseball, I would see people walking around with those baseball caps with the W on them and thought it was a Wegmans cap!

Re: Well, I’ll be darned- Wegmans

Just an addition to my original post. Wegmans doesn't have a weekly ad.  they have what they call Consistent Low Prices and the products change monthly.  One month was a 5 lb bag of white potatoes for $1.99; their brand of cereal 2/$4, they changeup  monthly.  So if you're looking for weekly sales it's not called a weekly sale per se!

Their hot bar, mediteranean bar, are very good as well.  I believe it's almost  $9.00/lb right now.  Their subs are very good, the rolls are tasty but can be a bit overwhelming.  Sushi area is impressive. They do make it fresh then package it.  There's always some sort of demos on the weekend.

@panda1234   My Wegmans did away with the Child area and replaced it with InstaCart.  They offer special days and events for children now, but no more WKids!

We have several in our state.  Only one store  is reasonably close though.  ''Love the store.

Re: Well, I’ll be darned- Wegmans

Wegman's-great store, love their variety.  We do not have one in our city, but shop once-in-a-while at a store in the city where our son lives.  It's always fun and also I probably overbuy, so it ends up being expensive.  It probably would not be that way though if I could shop there on a regular basis.

That is too bad @Helen852 . The children's area was a smart thing, no kids while you shop = spending more money. My kids use to ask to go to the grocery store, how unusual is that?
