Yikes, my post was too long (yes, too long even for me!😉🙃), so I removed it and I'll post it in 2 parts for those who might be interested.

We've had numerous threads about this over the years.😊

The Community forum is a prepackaged platform used by a number of sites, and these "rankings" are just a part of that package.

The Q Community doesn't use them all, and as others said they're not very meaningful or useful.

The software algorithm in general uses a combination of: 

number of posts;  number of hearts given/received;  number of page views;  and in some cases sites use number of signins.

This explains why someone might have zero posts but a higher so-called "ranking" than someone with a few posts...  that sort of thing.

In 2019, I finally spent some time (yes, I had too much time on my hands!) with searches on the User file and created this list of all of the designations we see (and some we don't see) here on the Q.

The list (in my following post) displays the ranking title and then the range of post counts (at the time of my searches) by our current users who have that ranking.

(Note:  I just now randomly checked a few of these, and for the most part they've remained basically the same.)
