I follow Dr. Bernstein's diet for diabetes. He suggests full fat yogurt, butter, olive oil etc. Hydrogenated fats (margarine) are the enemy. I eat mostly protein, fats and LOW carbs. Since starting this diet several months ago and quitting metformin, I have gained weight and look human again! Dr. B has diabetes 1 since he was young and this is the way he eats..I was literally dying, weighed 85 # on Dr. Barnard's diet..carbs, low fats etc..designed to reverse diabetes, it accelerated it for me! Healthy fats are good for our bodies! No processed foods, white sugar, white flour etc.
Btw, can't wait to get a butter boy..it will come in handy to grease a skillet for my eggs, which are now HEALTHY to eat again, lol! Only $6.99 and they always have those 20% coupons!

Our bodies are not meant to metabolize margarine and sugar substitutes. The less processed we eat, the healthier we are.

ITA! BUT, these clueless people can eat all the fat, greasy gunk until they pop. Have to keep the doctors in business. Have to keep the insulin makers in business. Have to keep the dialysis centers in business. So go ahead, eat away. You'll pay later. Guaranteed.
Nope. Not guaranteed.

I think you may be the one who is clueless. Fat is essential in our diet. We should have fat in moderation. Real butter is better for you than fake margarine.
she isn't clueless. Read her post again. If you think reading "fat, greasy gunk until they pop" is in "moderation", think again.
Americans eat too much junk. Period. This type of article is clueless because the problem isn't the food - it is the "in moderation" part that Americans fall flat on.

I was unpacking a set of dishes that my great-grandmother had left me. I cannot believe how tiny the bowls and plates are. We just have become so used to huge portions...

Wow, what a shocker, it was very gross. Only butter in this house. Of course we use butter in moderation just like everything else. There is absolutely NOTHING comparable out there to butter.
ITA. That's the point. Everything in moderation. Sugar, Butter, Fat, etc. etc. etc. all the devils....moderation is the true right way to eat.Every few years the "experts" come out with some new devil. I gave up on getting worked up about their pronouncements years ago. Basically, you live until you die....and we are all going to.
Moderation is the key.

Exactly. They are nothing more than chemicals and we all know chemicals are detrimental to the human body.

Genetics play a huge part as well.
