I used to be terrified of spiders, but once I began gardening decades ago, I ran into all kinds. I don't like them in my house and will try to collect one and toss it outside, but at times, I just have to vaccuum them. Once, after dong that and putting the bag outside to go into the trash, I saw one walking out of the bag. I would have thought all the tossing and turning would have done it in.

In my world, there is only one way to deal with spiders...smash them to smithereens!!!

i seem to attract spiders when working in the yard and have had some nasty bites this year.Yesterday while raking leaves I noticed a pure white spider on me...that guy is no longer crawling but my DH said that I should have collected that spider and tried to find out what it was.Has anyone ever seen a pure white spider?
No, I have never seen a white one. I am not a fan of spiders, either, although I appreciate that they are beneficial to the environment because they eat other insects.
I used to be really afraid of them, but my DH helped me to appreciate that they eat other insects, so I tolerate them.
I have seen those pale garden spiders though, and we have those big, black wood spiders here, that get inside at times. Those things are scary-looking. ![]()

LOL. Spiders in the house must die here, but outside they can crawl on me and live to tell about it.

I occasionally spot a small white spider inside my white hollyhock flowers. I never gave it much thought, and then on one of our master gardener's shows, he mentioned a small spider that will take on the colors that is around it in order to snare a fly or other flying critter. Camouflage. The spiders I see not only turn white, but also take on the small pink spots that the flower has. I am totally creeped out by spiders, but try and leave them alone since they are so beneficial in my gardens.
