Laughed at some replies but here goes mine
Think some people might be watching to many News shows ,and hearing what awful things are happening in the world like talk about cyber attacks to the grids. It might have made her want to get her stuff out of the bank including maybe safe deposit box items also.
Only wouldn't a bank want her to be given certified checks unless she had all her savings in safe deposit boxes.that she empty out.
Knew some older person who lived with daughter, cashed his social security check, plus pension check, then went to another bank that he shared with his daughter a safe depoist box and put most of it in the box ,and told her when I die get to the bank with a suitcase. and empty the box.
Know nobody in NYC today would leave a bank like that,no matter what was in the duffle bag.
Thinking it over ,whoever said shredded paper will get me to give them a heart.,more sensible thinking.

Going into a bank with a duffle bag on wheels would be suspect to me. It would definitely catch my attention.

@On It wrote:My husband had to go inside the main bank to complete a transaction. I waited in the car. I saw a woman walking toward the entrance with a duffle bag type piece of luggage on wheels. It looked so odd to see someone entering with that. It was clearly empty and light enough to be carried.
After a while, she came outside rolling the bag which was bulging. It was stuffed. What in the world was in that bag? Ransom money, cash for real estate, dirty laundry, or things from her desk. I will never know. I have officially watched way too many episodes of Law & Order.
JMO I do not judge, she was probably homeless. But I would not know, everyone has their story and it is my respect to her not to know.

I have a friend that works for a large bank. Yesterday they told their employees to make sure to take some $ out of their account so that they would have some cash on hand in case Russia makes good on their threat of a cyber attack. Just enough cash to keep on hand just in case. Many people keep little or no ready cash, me included.

@On It ... My guess is she quit her job or retired and cleaned out her desk. I had a lot of personal things when l retired.
