I could post this in Health/Wellness, but here is where I usually post so I'm putting it here.

I've lost quite a bit of weight (yeah!!) and have more to lose. I'm not approaching my goal weight yet. I'm totally motivated and have been doing really well until recently. My weight loss has just stopped- stopped. Isn't moving. I'll be down 1/2 pound, up 1, down 1, stay the same, down 1/2, down 1 1/2, up one, well, you get the picture. This has been going on for almost 8 weeks now. It had slowed down, but I'm at 1/2 pound lost net for the last 7-8 weeks. It's ridiculous. And it's driving me crazy.

This isn't my first time at the weight loss rodeo. I understand plateaus. I've been there before, but it's been a long time. I've worked through them before, but this one has me stumped.

I walk for exercise- 5 days a week. My knees are in horrible shape and will probably both need replacing in a year or two. The doctor I saw last didn't think my knees would tolerate walking, but they're doing "ok". I walk anywhere from a mile and half to two and half miles at a time, depending on how my knees are feeling that day. I walk indoors because my knees can't handle terrain, hills and stuff. I walk really quickly (no strolling) and sometimes I walk both early morning and then in the later afternoon. I've tried increasing the distance, decreasing the distance and then increasing it again. Taking 3 days off and then starting again, just trying to get my metabolism jump started.

I also have neck problems and really can't do any weights or anything like that for upper body.

I think my only exercise option left really is water aerobics and that's fine, but I'd like to lose a little more weight before getting in a bathing suit in public. I'm just not there emotionally yet.

I've tried really downing the water. That did nothing. I've tried drinking normal water consumption for me. That did nothing. I don't salt any foods. Obviously there's salt in things I eat, but I don't add salt to anything. I don't seem to be retaining excess fluid.

My food consumption I think is good. There's been no falling off the diet wagon, no calories that sneak in during the day, no mindless eating in front of the tv. I'm eating the same things I've been eating all along that has worked for me- protein, good vegetables, some fruit (not as much as I could though). I've tried eating a little more and then dropping it back some. That's done nothing. I've tried cutting it back a little and that did nothing.

I walk sometimes with a woman who's a nurse. She doesn't think I'm eating enough and that my body is in starvation mode and holding on to what I'm giving it. I really don't think I agree with that, but she might be right. I'm not doing any extreme dieting. I eat all three meals and have a dessert (calorie controlled) every night. Same thing I've been doing. Chicken breasts, lean pork, zucchini, cucumbers, lettuce, cheese. I by no means have a problem with too little food.

I've been on Synthroid for years. Had my doctor check my thyroid a few months ago. Everything is fine with that.

Sorry for the rambling post, but I wanted to give an accurate picture of what I've been doing.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?
