I think the most important thing is to find an eating plan that appeals to you. Otherwise, It will be hard to make the changes you need, to lose weight.
See which of the posted suggestions you like. Or maybe there is a diet book you like. You are more likely to succeed if you pick a way of eating you can do permanently - and enjoy it.

The one above is my favorite, skinnytaste. Gina really knows how to cook, several of hers are now family favorites. She's also on Pinterest. She now has her own cookbook out and was on with David.
I also like Emily Bites:

More and more, I like this Simple Nourished Living. Not complex, and food that's easy to put together:

One more, Skinny Kitchen. Nancy Fox is a prolific recipe creator and another one whose food is pretty simple and tasty.

Mmm...pumpkin muffins! Love that. I like that they added pecans. I usually do this with my pumpkin cakes and breads.
My recipes might be less diet friendly, though, but I'm going to hang onto this one.
Thanks!

I'm an emotional eater. Always have been and always will be.
I try to eat as healthy as I can - fresh fruits and vegetables, lean proteins, limited white flours, no dairy, and high fiber. The only way to maintain my weight is with exercise. I just have to accept that.
It totally stinks...LOL

I am back on my health kick. I have been down with bronchitis and have gained about 8 pounds over the summer. My husband and I are walking 2-4 miles a day and am eating a lean protein and veggies for dinner every night and the weight is already coming down. I had quit walking because of the heat...now that it has cooled down about 10-15 degrees am back at exercising...it comes off fairly quickly along with sticking to a lean protein and veggies for dinner. I eat yogurt with chopped walnuts mixed in for lunch.
Good luck...hope you find a good method that will works for you.
Oh and Saturday is my cheat day...I have to have a cheat day to stay on my diet.

Hi, Peaches,
I can understand where you are coming from. It seemed I was always craving food, especially bread & sweets, starting a couple hours after breakfast and lasting pretty much the whole day!
Then I decided to cut out sugar, (limit of 15 sugar grams per day!) and cut way-way back on carbs, especially bread, pasta, cereal, anything with wheat flour. No sweets either. I also watched fruit, some is loaded with sugar. I tried to stick to berries in the beginning and also watched serving size.
Wow, what a difference it made. Of course it took a few days to get rid of the cravings, but before long I realized I was not hungry all day long! That was over 6 years ago. I can hardly believe it has been that long. I lost about 45 lbs and have kept it off. I feel so much better.
I found that will power was no longer an issue for me, when I chose the foods that did not cause cravings. It was so freeing to no longer be hungry all day long.
I still avoid sugar, and watch carbs. Not that I never have a small serving of birthday cake, or an occasional treat. I occasional have a slice of bread (like a half of a sandwich) But, sometimes I go an entire week with no wheat flour at all.
I found ways to satisfy my sweet tooth in safe ways. A square of two of 85% dark chocolate. I found recipes that use almond flour and/or ground flax and made a minute muffin with those ingredients and stevia. Healthy and delicious.
I love having low-sugar pasta sauce & meat over strips of zucchini (zucchini "pasta") and one time I did not have zucchini on hand and was too lazy to go to the store so I just opened a can of green beans and served the sauce over the beans. Weird I know, but it was good.
Give yourself some time for your taste buds to change. I think those taste buds get dumbed down after eating sweets/carbs and after a while food really does start to taste better.
Take care!

@Peaches McPhee wrote:I need a mental overhaul regarding weight loss. I know all about calories, exercise, fats, carbs, etc., but I have zero will power. I cannot say no to a donut, a french fry, or a starch.
Does anyone have any experience or tips or suggestions on how to improve will power, so I can make the choices that I know are correct? I know it is all in my head, but it is really real, and does affect my body.
Hey! I am exactly like you @Peaches McPhee! ![]()
now I will go and read the advice and comments.
