I liked it better before, but I renewed to stay on track. I have lost 33 pounds, but it has taken over a year.

Congratulations @faeriemoon !!!
Do you now have to eat less or give up things you could have a couple of years ago?
@Noel7 I'd say you have to give up the things that you really like (or crave) because they have redistributed the points to the extent that it's not worth it to have a sweet or treat. Carbs of any kind have been assigned more points, so anything that helps you feel full is generally bad.

THANKS @faeriemoon
That's just what I wanted to know ![]()

She is certainly not the average woman trying to lose weight with her trainers and chefs so let's be real. However, the program has always been very good and gives you variety. I don't believe in plans that limit carbs, etc. I plan on joining the WW plan this year.

I think I will, too @Katcat1
I don't know how far I can get if carbs are strictly limited. I like to have a lunch sandwich with Sara Lee 45 calorie bread. That used to be 2 points for the bread on the previous plan.

For those interested:
I believe in WW for many reasons but the #1 being group accountability. I need the group support and I need being held accountable BY my group. I have a fantastic leader and fellow members; very positive situation. If these things don't matter to you, then try doing it online because the cost is...a lot.
I pay $50 a month to be told I've lost, gained or stayed the same. And it's going to go up (it always does). At some point, I know I'm not going to be willing to pay $20 plus a week to step on a scale. Nope, I'm not. Hang on to your materials- whatever they are as they WILL change the program again (they always do) and if you don't like the new program, you'll have the material to use from the old one.
Where you weigh-in can't help you with anything financial anymore. You MUST deal with the online or over the phone CS which is pretty poor, being honest.
As for the program: it was changed to come into alignment with the new health guidelines for sugar, carb, protein, dairy, etc that will be released early this year. These guidelines have been in the works for years and the biggest change you're going to see will be on nutritional labels. The sugar industry fought hard to prevent them but now you'll see the TRUE percentage of sugar in foods (very high); especially in foods that contain many carbs. You'll see why flavored yogurts are one of the worst items you can eat as the sugar content is over the top.... you see just how bad sugar truly is for you and with obesity rates climbing swiftly, this is important. Dr. Atkins was laughed at and ridiculed by his peers but the man was right about many things and NOW the medical community is having to admit he was ahead of his time.
The point is that the new WW program (the one started last year) is about seriously reducing your sugar intake and becoming aware of how many foods convert to high glycemic levels in the body after digested. It's to show the hidden sugar levels and to encourage fresh food, lean proteins, fruits, vegis and reducing high fat/high glycemic level foods. Now, this has also caused issues for those who use nuts and dairy items as their protein source; I know some who have dropped out of WW because they simply couldn't follow the program due to their diet restrictions. Others find they can't maintain not having the sweets/grains and leave. Some simply find it too restrictive and give up. Some hate the program and simply follow one of the old WW programs and are still losing weight that way.
I hope this helps anyone who is wondering what it's all about. : )

My friend had the stomach surgery 5 months ago and is down close to 40#'s. She said no carbs, diet drinks and no sweets, everything else is OK. Sounds like WW.
Well that makes sense for any weightloss program, I was thinking about getting back to WW this month but OW has turned my stomach and I don't think I can endorse/support her.
I know it's for me but I feel doomed before I even started again.

It is still 2 points. As is a lot of the food. Some foods have higher points some lower.

I lost weight after having our son in the early eighties. I knew the nutrition, I just wanted the motivation and energy of the group.
We could have a piece of bread a day and I used diet bread which gave me two slices for that amount of calories. I'd get a fresh tomato, Dukes diet mayo (definately the best) and with a small plate of broccoli and cauliflower with an apple had an easy lunch! I also used that mayo and skim milk to make my own ranch dressing.
I lost so quickly that I was the group's "mascot"!
Hungrey Day Soup is still a good choice in the winter when you don't want a bunch of calories. When the boys were teenagers, they'd raid my soup! They'd eat mixing bowls of it!
I was cutting the cabbage by hand then too!!!
I lost so quickly that I was the group's "mascot"!
Some spokesperson(s) have the ability to rally people and Oprah is one of those personalities. For a very long time her high interest talk show exposed a lot of high interest subjects to the public.
She constantly built up women, has an excellent rapport with them, and seems to be an ideal choice for WW since she has had a long time problem with her diet. I think she may bring new members in.
