One thing I wish they would come out with is those little square refrigerator containers in glass that have the lid that sits on top, and you can stack them in the refrigerator. I have 2 of them that I inherited from my aunt......I use them all the time. I am not a real lover of plastic.....because I think it change the taste of food.......and they stain after a period of time.
There's nothing like glass containers.......JMO

Show Me--those are nice containers. You should check around at some of the second-hand stores....or antique malls. I usually see those containers in that kind of place. They aren't cheap, but they aren't outrageous, either.
There are a couple of places over on Manchester Road that you should check. One is called The Emporium. It's very near the newer shopping complex that has Stein Mart, Tuesday Morning, Baskin Robbins, etc. It's painted hot pink....you can't miss it!

Pyrex makes glass storage containers with lids in various configurations, e.g., square, round, etc. Amazon sells them & I think I remember seeing them at Target. I don't shop at KMart,Walmart or Costco, but they probably have them, too. I like the glass, too, because it doesn't retain odors or stain, but they can get heavy when packed in a lunch bag, so still keep some plastic around for that.

Oh CardinalGirl, you're an angel..... I have had them for ages, and I guess you would call them antiques......neither of the 2 has a chip out of it. Where on Manchester Road is the Emporium? Is it near Glendale, or is it out further (past Des Peres) ??????....... I remember my aunt had a the rectangular one too, but believe her DIL got that one. Now I am really wanting more of them. Those are the kinds of things you just don't send folks home with leftovers.

I'm not sure who made these......It could also have been Anchor Hocking....... And, I do believe the ones I have are antiques. I don't put them in the micro either.....just afraid they might not be able to take that kind of heat. I know I have seen the Pyrex in Target, but that is not what these are.
I am sure that CardinalGirl knows what I am looking for.
Yes, you are correct.....the glass doesn't retain odors or stain. When I did have a dishwasher, I never put them in their either. I don't have to worry about fixing lunches for anyone other than myself. I would never send anyone home with food in either of the ones I have......I have plenty of the plastic for that too.

Here's a the Emporium's website: http://emporium-stlouis.com/
I don't know for sure they have the refrigerator boxes you're looking for....but you might like the place, anyway. Here's an example of ours being a small world:
You know that I live over an hour from the city. One weekend, we were in just knocking around and came upon this store. I found a mirror I really loved and was writing a check for the purchase. When the owner of the shop saw my address, she said, "Oh, my daughter lives in your town." Well.....as it turns out, her daughter is the woman who cleans my house! Very small world, indeed.
