The ring looks brand new.  I can't find any old friends on Facebook by name, let alone find them by their initials.

@Kachina624 @The genealogical society probably used the location and date of the marriage to check marriage records that coordinated with the initials inscribed.

This is one of the reasons why I love Facebook.

Re: Wedding ring will be returned to owner after being lost for 48 years.

My Dad's cousin sold her house when she was in her late 80's. In a strange coincidence, it was sold to my cousin's son (on my Mom's side).  One day while doing some gardening, they found a wedding band with engraving on it. My cousin sent me a picture of it and asked if maybe I knew if it belonged to one of the family members.  And it did.  It was the 25th anniversary ring of the son of my Dad's cousin.  When I contacted them about it they were astounded.  The ring had been lost for 25 years and they had recently celebrated 50 years.  The ring is now with it's original owner.

They were astounded that it was found after all those years, especially since the original owner of the house, my Dad's cousin, was a gardener and never came upon the ring herself, nor did any of the people helping her.

@Mindy D

Thank you for posting this wonderful story. I don't do Facebook so I wouldn't have ever seen this otherwise.

I lost my wedding ring and diamond a few years back and it wasn't found for over 2 years. So I know that heart wrenching feeling when you look at your finger and the ring is gone.

I was married in 1973, so this story hit home with me in a lot of ways.
