QVC will not explain it --- nor will any company. In addition to being based upon private business decisions, other than saying something to the effect that "things got out of hand," given specific information identifying or alluding to a specific user opens them up to the possibility of a lawsuit.

Right here on these very boards, we have had someone state he is looking for a "hungry lawyer" to sue HSN because he did not like the way those boards are moderated. While such a suit would fail miserably, who wants the headache?

Besides, they already have enough of a problem with people reporting post after post that they feel violates standards. If QVC began stating why things are deleted, I am sure the cries of favoritism, unfairness, and preferential treatment would increase exponentially. Again, who wants to deal with that headache?

Yep...I believe it to be true.

Re: Webbie, out of all fairness please explain the whys and how things are chosen to be

I talked to Customer Service a lot yesterday because of the signing in problems. It seems they know absolutely nothing about this BB. All they said was "there are some upgrades going on." Upgrades? I doubt it. Trying to sign in was an absolute nightmare, so they were obviously trying to fix something that wasn't working. Creating passwords? I did not have to put in a password this morning.

There is obviously a third party subcontractor involved in the creation and maintenance of the BB that has nothing to do with QVC, except they are probably paid by them to maintain and supervise this BB.

Out of about five whom I spoke to, only one had even an inkling that something was going on and she was the only one who admitted it wasn't just me.

Re: Webbie, out of all fairness please explain the whys and how things are chosen to be

PS sorry to hijack the thread with a couple of my posts above.

Why webbie poofs things is beyond me. Sometimes rather innocent threads go poof and inflammatory ones stay longer than they probably should. I have come to realize, here, these forums, there is NO rhyme or reason to what stays or goes. I can't make sense of it. I bet it has to do with who is on duty? I really don't think it's some automated poofing program. I think things get reported, they're reviewed by someone and that someone decides. I also do not think a poster hitting 'report' automatically makes something go POOF.

Re: Webbie, out of all fairness please explain the whys and how things are chosen to be

Many years ago I belonged to a public board, much smaller than this one, but we had a moderator who actually participated/interacted with us. We could email him and we'd receive an answer! Threads would be locked, yes, but there would be a message from him saying why. If it looked like there was a feud developing between posters he would issue warnings. I remember one such warning went along the lines of: you two stay away from each other, do not interact or you'll both be banned. His name was Jack. I'm sure there were a few "Jacks" and possibly a "Jill" or two, but it worked.

That's where we learned that moderating the several boards was not his only job nor was it his main job. The upkeep of the website for StudiosUSA, or SUSA, was the main job. The boards would be low on the list of priorities.

Again, much smaller board, fewer participants, but we knew our concerns would be addressed. And "Jack" did not suffer trolls lightly.
