As its name suggests, it embodies gloom and anxiety; by burning it, people destroy the worries and troubles of the previous year in the flames.[1] Anyone with an excess of gloom is encouraged to write down the nature of their gloom on a slip of paper and leave it in the "gloom box" found in City of Santa Fe Visitors' Centers in the weeks leading up to the burn.

His construction, assembly and transportation is a community 0roject.

It sounds like a plan to me!!!!  Having had some losses recently, gloom and Anxiety have been hovering over me.  I hope the ZoZobra burning takes away all negative feelings for all of us who have had difficulties this past year.  

Have fun at the event and good riddance to those negative times!!!!  Certainly this is a different and new practice to me but a good one!!!

The citizens of Santa Fe have been doing this every year since 1924.  Businesses contribute tons of shredded paper. Thousands attend.

@Kachina624 My husband read that they are expecting 50,000 people to attend this year. It gets bigger and bigger every year. I would love to experience the energy first hand. As usual, we will watch the local news coverage and cheer.

@On It.  It's all they've talked about on KOAT for close to 2 months.  They must be a sponsor...every newscast it has been mentioned.   I'll  be glad to see the end of it.

I've believed for a long time that what we can't really change,

we can think about in a different way and ease our way along.  I think a trouble into a box and put it on a shelf where I can find it later if I want.   Zozobra is certainly more complete!

@goldensrbest.  It would be quite a cultural shock for you, like being in a foreign country.  Entirely different way of life.  I wish you could come.
