It was a tiny 2.8 on Richter Scale but most people on the West side of Albuquerque felt it. I was bustling around doing stuff and didn't even notice it.

Very funny. I've found that anything below a 4.0 often isn't even noticed. Knock on wood.

@Kachina624 Glad it wasn't more than that for you!!! Lucky! It depends a lot on where the earthquake is from you and what it is going through in the earth to get to you, as well as the ground you are on. There are also shakers and rollers!
I've been in a 5.5 and it was scary. Lasted 45 seconds and everyone in the house got dizzy and we all ran out into the yard. Lots of noise too. I was in a big building once and saw a "roller" come through. I could see the wave go down the hall as the hall shook.

We feel them here in OK sometimes.
One day I was sitting at my desk on my computer when I felt the ground move under my feet. Eerie feeling. I knew what it was.
DH came in the room to ask if I felt that? I don't think I would have noticed if I was walking across the floor at the time.

We are so overdue for a bigger earthquake here in Southern California. We had a 3.4 and numerous 1.0-2.0's last week but those are nothing. We don't even give thos the time of day.

@Sooner. We're not in earthquake country (nothing since '71) but we do have 3 or 4 volcanos on the Western edge of town. They're not extinct but are inactive, just little knobs on the horizion visible from anyplace in the city. Theres debris from them all over the area. They had a big blow thousands of years ago.

My sister lives there. She said she didn't feel it. She was busy at work. Didn't notice, till they told her.
I too get nervous, not so much earthquakes but volcanoes....Still get scared thinking of Yellowstone...

I'm glad it was a minor earthquake and all is well. I had a laugh at your photo of the fallen chair being the result!
