Re: We Had An Earthquake Yesterday

Some earthquakes are caused from fracking and also from artificial groundwater recharging. Both of those kind of earthquakes happen in Colorado occasionally.

@SilleeMee.  That was my first thought when NextDoor blew up with reports of an earthquake.  There is fracking a little west of that area.  However, the earthquake was verified by USGS

The thought of an earthquake, no matter how slight, scares the begeebers out of me. 🙀 I guess you just get used to the sensation...

I'm glad it wasn't a big one @Kachina624 and your picture was hilarious!! Living on not one but several fault lines, we rock and roll frequently but I have been thru several that have been over 6.0 and I'm not embarrassed to say...when they are that big, I'm a fraidy cat!!!

@Kachina624

Around 7am-ish this morning we had a 4.7 earthquake centered in Malibu.  Stuff shook a little, but nothing fell over.

My poor dog experienced her first earthquake today with the Malibu quake. She already has fear issues but the shaking & noise scared her even more. Luckily it was over pretty quickly.

@Eleanor55

Thinking back, my dog Mitzii would get quiet and hide under furniture a couple hours before even a small quake.

Sometimes, birds stop chirping beforehand.

The animals "know" something is coming.

@Tinkrbl44 , When I lived in So Cal we had a cockatiel.  When she would hang upside down with her head turned to the side we would look at the chandelier and sure enough in a few minutes it would start swaying.  These were just tremors thankfully.
