Any receipts I didn't keep were shredded or I kept them. No, my credit card does not alert me when a purchase is made.

@Mindy D I agree with removing your Q Card off the account and put it back only when placing an order. It's more work but more secure, that's what I do. When I call in the CS Rep always knows it's me by my telephone number, so no one could fake that either.

@Mindy D Is there someone you trust that you can get/hire to go through and sort the stuff? Tell them they can keep what they want. Is it a large storage area or just a small one? I'm sure it will keep you up at night if you don't feel secure in donating it/trashing it with the possibility of reciepts being in there. I agree with a previous poster and email the customer care people/or call customer service. They can give you the best answer.
I don't believe they would take someone calling to order on your account. Most customer services do NOT have your full card number. They only see the last 4 digits. Those that can "unmask" it, are required to VERIFY the caller and they would NEVER repeat the card number to the caller. They will sometimes ask for the card number and they always ask for the expiration date and 3 digit code. I do not believe anyone could just call with your name and address and last 4 digits of your card number and order something without a 2nd level of customer verification. There would be massive fraud buying on QVC. It would not take long before the ability to just call and order would spread and everyone would be grabbing people's reciepts and ordering. They HAVE to have you verify who you are. But to keep your mind at ease ask QVC themselves.

Remove your credit card from the QVC site. Add it to PayPal's site. Then whenever you make a purchase, you'll go through QVC and click "PayPal" to link your account with PayPal and shipping information for ordering. QVC no longer has anything to do with your credit card. PayPal keeps track of all orders sent out; QVC is the S&H of the merchandise. Once PayPal approves the charge, QVC receives an electronic message to release the merchandise to their Shipping Dept.
Your phone number or email are the prime numbers for QVC and PayPal to recognise you!
No one would be able to jump through the security of PayPal and QVC. Your credit card is safe and your own orders will be easily placed as before (except you select PayPal instead of a credit card). You will also be able to use EasyPay if desired.
But anyone trying to order something through QVC with info from old packing slips, won't know that you've changed to PayPal and will try to use the credit card procedure of before! It won't work. (I'd also suggest changing your password to be extra safe.) Good luck!
I'm so sorry to read about your declining health, but glad to know you and your husband are taking care of this problem while still able to do so. Too many leave these financial messes to their relatives who don't know where to begin. You are to be commended for asking questions and having the desire to remedity the situation. Best wishes!

I think you are making "too much ado about nothing!"
Your old mail should not matter that much today. Nobody "dumpster dives" for your information.
Today, everybody has a cell phone. Anyone on a Gov't service gets a free phone and that gives them access to the internet and any/all of your information.
Double bag it, put it in the trash and let them burn it.
Our area has several local FB pages with ads for locals that "clean out" and haul away for you. Ours is just "XXXcommunity" or "news"

That happened to me!
And it took a while for me to realize it, but a person used my account to order things shipped to her.
What a mess!

I happened to me too.
The Q fraud staff was helpful but we never figured out how the fraud occurred.
Do you all recall that our account number was on the top of the packing slips?

@LindaSal I agree that closing the account is the safest way to go. Delete the credit card information before closing it to be extra safe.
Open a new account the next time you want to order. Better safe than being worried someone has too much information. I am sorry you are both having health issues. Get better. We appreciate your keeping us up to date on recalls.

Someone posted that they asked about closing their account and QVC told them they never actually closed an account. They said if you decided to shop again, they would use that same account.
Another thing I checked on is whether your original format of payment stays with the information on that item. Yes it does. Only the last four digits but it's there. That's something to ask QVC Social about. Maybe the number is eventually deleted.
About your credit cards. Most have the option to set up alerts when an amount is charged. That might be under the Alert heading and you should be able to decide what amount you want to be alerted on. I have that set up on my debit card if any amount is used online or by phone.
The best of luck to you and I think the QVC Social route is the way to go.
