Water Emergency in Atlanta, GA

The Mayor of Atlanta has declared a State of Emergency due to all the massive water main breaks.  Lots of businesses closed because of this.

@mormel20  Saw this all over the news today. Those poor people and the incompetent city government.

What I don't understand is why so many water mains are breaking at one time?  Yes, they're old so breaks are to be expected, but multiple breaks at the same time seems odd.  I wonder if there was some kind of pressure problem.  The whole thing sounds just awful.  I keep a supply of bottled water at all times because you never know what's going to happen next.

Re: Water Emergency in Atlanta, GA

I live in Metro Atlanta (not affected by the outages). I have been keeping up with this some of course, but I didn't watch the news.  I went to bed really early last night so after reading this thread, I googled.

Still the 2 breaks. I also thought it was odd that 2 happened so close together.  As to the city government- did they do something (or not do something) that made you deem them incompetent @Love my grandkids ?  I mean that as a sincere question. Did I miss something on that?

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

@gidgetgh Atlanta  government is no more incompetent than the Texas 'sgovernor is inompetent because of  problems with the power grid.  These types of events will occurr more often as imnfrastructure  crumbles throughout the county.  It will require billions of dollars to ensure that everuone has access to safe water.

Yet that governor keeps getting re-elected over and over.  But that's Texas.  So long as it's a Republican, he gets elected no  matter what.  With the Federal government the evil one. Same deal with Atlanta.  So long as it's Democrat, he get elected no matter what.  With the Federal government the good guys.
