Honestly, why do some of you people care about this when you are for the immigration of Syrian refugees, 95% being able bodied strong young men.

bingo!

I can't see one reason to be concerned about this.  Under current law "Membership in a terrorist organization does not prohibit a person from possessing firearms or explosives under current federal law,".

Once a refugee or immigrant has their ICE issued ID and Alien # they are entitled to purchase a gun as long as all other qualifications are met.  The law is the law.  Not a thing to be concerned about.

Well the storyhas been covered by many news outlets today so it seems more than one person is concerned.

Wrong is still wrong just because you benefited from it.

I think it's utterly shameful that in many states convicted domestic batterers are allowed to buy weapons because the NRA fights for their rights to do so.  basically, they're fighting for the rights of the watch list terrorists too.

What credible source(s) are you getting your information from? Or is this purely speculation and hyperbole on your part?

Individuals on the FBI’s terrorist watchlist are not prevented from legally purchasing firearms, but two lawmakers want to change that. FBI data from last year show that people on the watchlist were cleared to purchase guns 94 percent of the time.

Between 2004 and 2014, the FBI completed 2,233 background checks involving individuals on the watchlist. Only 190 individuals were declined, according to the Government Accountability Office (GAO). The GAO does not have data on how many firearms purchases were completed because dealers are not required to submit that information to the FBI.

“If the only mark on your record is that you are on the watchlist, you are allowed to purchase a firearm,” said David Maurer, the GAO's director of justice and law enforcement issues.

Of course Congress needs to close the terror gap but they should also not allow people refugee status without knowing who they are and that has already been determined to be an impossible feat.

The refugees are heavily vetted - some people are receiving incorrect information.

Not true!!  The media states that they are not vetted at all--that there is no background information on them and that we do not have a relationship with their country that would provide such information if it were documented.  Where did you get information that they are "heavily vetted"?

The linked article says that the ACLU opposes the watchlist program and calls the watchlisting process unfair.  They say the criteria are overbroad ensnaring innocents.

That is essentially true.  Last figure I heard there are in excess of one million names on the biggest watchlist (there is more than one list).  There are many problems with the watchlists, how people get put on them and how the information is used.  Still, it is better than no list unless you happen to end up on it (which is easier than one would think).
