Watched a good Grace Kelly documentary

I accidently discovered a really good documentary about Grace Kelly on YouTube. It's entitled "Grace Kelly: Behind the Glamour and the Crown." Her son Albert shared family photos and family videos. Albert owns the Kelly home (at least when the doc was made) in Philadelphia and takes the audience inside the home and shares some stories. Some of her nieces and nephews and one of her good friends share stories about Grace also.

There are some family videos of Roc Agel, a country estate in France near Monaco that Prince Ranier purchased in 1957 for a retreat for the Grimaldi family. It was a farm that they restored. Prince Albert said it offered them a sense of normalcy and freedom. Grace filmed a lot of the video at Roc Agel, including Prince Ranier playing with the children.

It was a very well done documentary and I think what made it so good was the family interviews and family videos that were shared. It's about a 54 minute documentary.

Wow, that sounds really good, @cimeranrose .  You always find great tidbits.  How interesting that Albert still owns the Kelly house in Philadelphia.  Even though the succeeding generations of Grimaldis seem to have a destiny in Europe, they still seem to have a good grasp on the American Kelly side of the family.  That must be due to the efforts of their mother.

Making a note of this documentary, thanks!

Re: Watched a good Grace Kelly documentary

I don't get it -. Why does Albert own the Kelly house on Henry Avenue in Philadelphia? Grace Kelly had 2 sisters and 1 brother. Wouldn't they have inherited the house?

I went to school not far from the Kelly house, so we passed it often. And the school that Grace Kelly went to, eventually merged with my school (after Grace Kelly and I  graduated). Her school was down the street from my school.

All 3 of Grace Kelly's siblings stayed in the Philadelphia area after they grew up. I would have thought one of them or their children would have wanted the house. The Kelly family also owned a house in Ocean City, New Jersey. Wonder who owns that house now.

That is so interesting that Prince Ranier bought Roc Agel in 1957. Wonder if he used the 1 million dollar dowry that he insisted Mr Kelly pay when Grace married Prince Ranier in 1956.

Glad it is a well done documentary. Look forward to watching it.
