Some people, including myself, are physically unable to do it themselves. I'm not lazy and it is not a waste of money to pay to have it done b/c I would suffer if I had to do it myself.

Others may not have time to clean their cars. They have to work.

@Sugipine   Agree!  I don't consider myself lazy, and it's not a waste of money to pay to have it done.  Better to pay the car wash than have to pay the orthopedist for my shoulder Rotator cuff problem.

@ciao_bella @Sugipine I agree as well. That was a very rude comment especially since she doesn't know the health issues some people may have. You know the saying about never assume.

I don't think anyone was being rude.  No one can know everyone's health issues just like no one can know everyone's money issues.  Not saying this was the case, but maybe they rather do it themselves than pay someone.  Could go both ways.

I like the idea of detailing.  I haven't had someone come to the home but I really should look into it.

Really we could all say the same thing about you washing your cars yourself.  Why do you think we do not have nice cars and take pride in our cars.  No one is mad that people choose different ways to do things.  You sound irritated for no reason.

Re: Washing Your Car at Home

I bring mine into Sparkle car wash whenever I feel the need to have it done.  I'm probably going this week.

I used to do it when I was younger but I don't feel the need to drag out a stepladder to get the top cleaned.

Re: Washing Your Car at Home

I use the Automatic car wash weekly. My husband washes his truck at home. Worries about scratches like others here have mentioned.

But this is funny and I’ll never forget!

When my youngest niece was about 6 or 7 and her father wanted to wash his truck and got out the hose, bucket, brush etc and she asked him…

Dad…Is this how they did it in the older days??? 😂😂

Re: Washing Your Car at Home

We had a bad experience at a car wash when a worker ripped the back of the driver's leather seat with a tool he had in his backpocket...DH went berzerk so no more car washes. where someone else does it. He takes it to a self car-wash place and does it himself. Costs about $4 and he uses the change he throws in his "coin jar" since it won't take dollar bills. It is so hot and dusty that cars don't stay looking clean very long. Mine stays in the garage and his is a gold/almond color that matches the dust, so no big deal.

@Trailrun23

How awful! I hope they compensated you for that happening to your car.

You reminded me of something years ago at a not as updated car wash as they have nowadays. My husband noticed the rim of my one tire was all scratched. I called the place and the guy told me to bring my car down so that he could see. The first thing he said when he saw the damage was… Yep that happened here. I’ll order you a new rim from your dealership and put it on for you. Such a relief that he was an honest business owner. 🤗🤗🤗

Re: Washing Your Car at Home

If we need rain, we wash and wax our cars! Happened last week...

Only one car wash place in our entire town I think. Horrible! Paid $18 two times to get vehicle cleaned!

We wash in back yard on driveway strips. Waters get grass too.

Once a carwash place put floor mats on front seats to vacuum rugs. Noooo thank you! Ugh! I can detail with armor all disinfectant myself thank you!

We had a black Suburban that had the marks of a carwash (swirls on the hood). We had to really wax hard for a long time to get rid of them.

Re: Washing Your Car at Home

No, I do not. When I purchased my current small SUV about a year and half ago. I thought to myself it would be great exercise, I am going to start washing my car at home.

I went out and purchased all of the supplies, the special soap, the bucket, the cloths to dry, etc.etc.  I washed my vehicle one time and was absolutely exhausted. I thought to myself why am I punishing myself. I do not have to do this. I went right back to the car wash.

I clean my car about once a month during the spring and summer months.

I alternate between two car washes.
