Re: Wanting to move to Florida- question/ disappointed

Thanks everyone, you have given me much to consider. We are just home from 2 weeks in SW Florida. We did visit Dunedin and liked it, we also liked Venice and Punta Gorda- for the few hours we were there. The only Master Planned community we liked was Babcock Ranch in Ft Myers- but so far inland, and again only there for a few hours. Not sure we would even want a master planned community.

New construction is 1 1/2 - 2 years out, and the house prices do not include the land cost, that's an additional 30K+, depending on location, with many lots going by lottery.

Medical care is a consideration for my husband.  We have much more to explore and consider.

Is it really that much hotter inland than along the coast? The thought of tornadoes also keeps me from wanting to go inland. Hurricanes you can plan for.

I would not worry about the tornadoes in Florida.  Yes, we have them but not strong ones like you see on TV that go for miles.

It may be hotter inland??  We get the evening breezes from both coasts and that usually produces light showers on summer days and it cools off.  I love it inland.

Please don't move to the 'cheaper' boonies if you need great health care.  It is available in more populated areas just like everywhere else!
