All my grocery shopping is store pick up.  I alternate between a small grocery store where they do an excellent job with fruits, vegetables, Boar's head deli meat and cheeses, even meats and seafood.  I am always pleased.  More mature folks do the shopping.  They are somewhat more expensive for basics, paper products, chips, bread etc.  I go to Walmart Grocer (not Super WM)  for those items. Both are very close by.  I went to WM pick up and only 2 small items were out of stock. I do not allow substitutions on most items. The workers that deliver to car are, without exception, friendly, polite, and nothing like the in store WM workers.  No tips allowed. This plan works for me.

The Walmart stores in my area are having staff shortages, not a shortage of products.  For instance, their milk cases are always almost empty, but all of the milk is sitting toward the back just waiting to be put in the display cases where the customer can reach in to get it.  It is very frustrating to see the milk I want, but cannot get it.

It's a matter of time until they have customers unloading the trucks in the back, just like they try to get everyone to self checkout.

I don't do Walmart for groceries - the shelves have always been poorly stocked, especially compared to a supermarket.  I've learned not to go there expecting to find a specifc item because there's less than a 50% chance I'll find it.

I don't know why they can't do a better job stocking.  If they want to be a supemarket, then act like one.

First I have to say if they paid a decent wage and had normal shifts they would have more employees.  Not one employee that I have talkded to has a straight shift.  (this was way before covid)  Sometimes they work till late night and have to return at 5 or 6 am.

Now what I really do not understand is why Walmart does not have a night crew to stock shelves.  They block the aisles at all hours during the day and it is difficult to get through the aisles.  The Family that is making all the money with these stores should try shopping in one and make the needed changes.  I find myself going to other stores.

Every register in the self-checkout area at the WM near me has card skimmers.....it has been reported to the "manager" and yet they are still there. Inside job, perhaps? A neighbor has had over $5k drained from her checking account due to this. Has been going on for weeks. Many people on the ;ext door app have reported having their money stolen or credit card fraud via those skimmers. Some WM stores seem to be run smoothly and efficiently. The store closest to our neighborhood isn't one of them. The next closest is too far to be practical.

I buy more fresh produce than anything else....I did the Kroger pickup for a long time when the initial lockdown began and loved it, but I prefer to pick out my own fresh produce.  Badly bruised bananas and limp celery is no bueno for me. I guess we may need to start doing it again if things continue to ramp up in our area.

@Duckncover @Could you please make a new post warning all of us about this. I fear this is buried in this thread and I had no idea this is going on.

@ValuSkr

I think it depends on the management. The one that I use has a very large grocery store section and it is usually well stocked but there are a few others that have empty shelves often. I place my order online and there are notifications if something is out of stock which usually happens on the weekend. Monday morning is not the best time to schedule your pick-up or delivery.

That's why I never shop using a debit card.

I forgot something that bugs me is the way they bill for pickups.  They post the highest estimate on your credit card and that is ok--I understand that.

Then as the order processes you will get a few dollars more taken out, or credited, and you have NO idea what for.  I had $3.92 cents credited on the 15th for something I picked up on the 10th.  What?  You just have to trust them your bill is right.

@Sooner  Trust them?  Not me.

I have never been in a Walmart.  There is not one in the town I live in and don't remember seeing one any place else.

For some reason I do not believe that the Cards are getting hacked because of Walmart. If you tell me gas stations and the ATM machine, yes I believe that.

@Mindy D  this had been going on for years but never heard About Walmart until now.

The skimmers are not easy to detect and most of the time they are removed before anyone find out.
