We do pickups at Walmart and it is frustrating because they will be out of a number of things but don't tell you that until it is too late to do anything about it.

Substitions are iffy and you are never sure what they are going to substitute.  Often it is store brands--I think they push Walmart products this way if they are overstocked on some of their own brand.  So pickups get WM brand, store shoppers see popular brands on the shelves.

AND THERE'S MORE:  Woman Very Happy

I forgot something that bugs me is the way they bill for pickups.  They post the highest estimate on your credit card and that is ok--I understand that.

Then as the order processes you will get a few dollars more taken out, or credited, and you have NO idea what for.  I had $3.92 cents credited on the 15th for something I picked up on the 10th.  What?  You just have to trust them your bill is right.

I have a 2 Walmart Superstores and a Walmart Neighborhood Grocery store all within 10 minutes of my house and they are fully stocked. I just got back from there and the only aisle that had gaps in it was the chip aisle. I was in a Walmart Superstore last week and they seemed fully stocked.

The problem at the Walmart in my area is not lack of inventory, but enough people to stock the shelves.

Saw plenty of beef at Kroger yesterday, but I don't do $9.99 for chuck roast. Have not seen any shortage of chicken or beef yet. Eggs are hard to find though.

There are 2 WM nearby, and neither of  them are fully stocked.   Summer resort area to blame as well, beaches,  lots of 2nd homes and boats.   The one with the full size grocery is always out of basics. Eggs, cereal, OJ, milk. Sometimes they do have items i want but they are backstocked on the top 10ft shelves! no one around to help - the online shoppers are pleasant but  too short to help.

agree about the workers, they play on their phones. or they're heading to their break, or they are too short to reach stuff.    lots of them have quit right at mid-shift. they just walk out!  have to use self-ck  because only one register open.  you would think the self-ck attendant could at least fan out the bags to make things quicker but noooo the bags are stuck together. they sit texting...

yes i have done online, it's ok in the winter but they seem to forget some things i ordered. i'll have to start bringing my grabber along so i don't climb on the shelves!

I have stoped going into stores...at least til this covid thing slows down. Only use home delivery from Walmart groceries.  Have had no problems. Once in a while the item is out.  Their delivery people are very nice, friendly and kind!  I am so happy to have this service!

Your comment about the short ONLINE shoppers made me smile, @CatsyCline .

I am short and have range of motion limitations with my shoulders, so I am always on the lookout for a taller person to reach something for me.  😊

I have not seen shortages at our local supermarket (not a Walmart).

All my grocery shopping is store pick up.  I alternate between a small grocery store where they do an excellent job with fruits, vegetables, Boar's head deli meat and cheeses, even meats and seafood.  I am always pleased.  More mature folks do the shopping.  They are somewhat more expensive for basics, paper products, chips, bread etc.  I go to Walmart Grocer (not Super WM)  for those items. Both are very close by.  I went to WM pick up and only 2 small items were out of stock. I do not allow substitutions on most items. The workers that deliver to car are, without exception, friendly, polite, and nothing like the in store WM workers.  No tips allowed. This plan works for me.
