Walmart website non-delivery experience

I like ordering from Amazon but for certain items that I know I want to get on time, I make sure Amazon is the real seller and deliverer, because other sellers charge more and may have less reliable delivery times .  Sometimes I have noticed items from third party vendors come in Walmart boxes, and I think they get deals from Walmart and just have the stuff sent to me, and keep the mark-up.

So over a week ago, Amazon didn't have my item on sale by Amazon (only by more expensive third party vendors with extended delivery times), but I found the item in the Walmart website at the regular Amazon price, and bought it there.  First time success.

I buy this regularly, so earlier this week, the item was still not available in Amazon, but it was in Walmart so I bought there again, and even paid for shipping because the order was under $35.  Order was supposed to be delivered yesterday and the tracking showed the item left a warehouse in Brooklyn. NYC (I live in Manhattan NYC) at about 5:30am yesterday.  End of the day yesterday, it didn't come in.  I am guessing truck had many stops and just ddn't make it, even though Brooklyn is just minutes away.  This morning I checked tracking again, and it just said delivery was delayed.  Ok, I think, maybe the delivery guy had to go home before he emptied his truck, maybe something happened to the merchandise.  Today, at about 4pm, I get an email that the item was delivered.  Delivery people usually drop things in the lobby of my building, and my doorman usually brings them to my apartment.  No package after a while by my door, so I went to the lobby, doorman says, no package.  Doorman has been there all day.  I re-check my Walmart email.  Email states to check the tracking, that sometimes emails are sent ahead of time.  Check the tracking, it states Fed Ex delivered at about 4pm.  So I contact Walmart customer service per instructions.  They state, oh sometimes this happens, that if I don't get the package within an additional 48 hours, they will give me a credit.

OK, I understand that sometimes things happen, and packages are not delivered when promised.  But why did they generate 2 records, an email and a tracking record, falsely stating that an item was delivered when it wasn't?  The fellow that I was speaking with was treating this as routine.  He had no explanation why they would have created 2 false records.  This is what they do.  Non-delivery was an option in the drop down menu to rate my delivery, so this appears to be routine.

Frankly, I was shocked. Late or non-delivery would have bothered me, but that happens and I would have accepted it (I tolerate this from QVC), but the creation of false records is, in my opinion, inexcusable.

On my way to the store to get replacement items.

@NYCLatinaMe    I consider a delivery by FedEx to be the kiss of death.  Apparently they don't require basic literacy of their drivers.

In my experience, that generally means that they delivered it to the wrong address.  Maybe there's a building nearby where it could be?

EDIT

@NYCLatinaMe

Did you check all your doors...any garage doors?

I've had a few packages from Walmart delivered by my garage doors that I can't see from inside the house.

I suppose Walmart can only go by the status Fedex sends to them.

Mixed messages have become rather common from both UPS and Fedex.  Probably, why the CS agent was treating it as routine.  Lol.

Similar situations happened to me with both UPS and Fedex.  The packages were delivered the next day.

@NYCLatinaMe @It could have been delivered to the wrong address. This happened to me with an Amazon delivery. The funny part is that the delivery person included a photo of the delivered items sitting on the front porch of some other home in my development. The home had a brown front door. My door is white. Amazon sent out another delivery.

I’ve had USPS, FexEx, and Amazon all send a delivery notice when it wasn’t delivered and it wasn’t delivered to the wrong address. It just wasn’t delivered until a day or 2 later. I think the driver didn’t want a late notice on the package. Interestingly, I can’t recall this ever happening with UPS.

I had an "exception" by Walmat after it had been on a truck for several days.

"Exception" didn't get delivered for weeks!  I went to the store where I was told to call (amazingly 1-800-walmart).  The order was killed and I got a refund.

I've seen some of my WM items in my account with a message saying something about not receiving an item even though it says it has been delivered and to give it a couple of days. My items usually show up within a day or two after that.

WM ships FedEx Home which is awful.

WM split an order and my oatmeal and coffee were late, then FedEx said out for delivery but I wasn't home. This went on for 3 days. I WAS home and nobody ever showed.

WM refunded my $ and the items showed 3 days later. They finally found the box after WM reported it lost.

Thanks @chickenbutt It's not that kind of address.  This never happens.  I have deliveries all the time.  My address is on a very exclusive and singular park. (My apartment is not fancy, just the address is.)  No other address like it.  Close neighborhood.  All the buildings around the small park have doormen.  They would have told my doorman.

@Mindy D - Amazon stops by at least once a week.  They are very good.  Never had any problems.  They usually drop in the lobby.
