@Maggie Nolia wrote:For many, many, many years, any returns to Amazon were credited back to my credit card. Then suddenly, as I stated originally, maybe three months ago, they started the scam of putting refunds on gift card which I never requested or authorized.
They say, no, they cannot move the gift card amount to my credit card and, no, they cannot send me a check for the gift card amount.
Yes, that IS a scam.
@Maggie Nolia, I also have never had a refund posted as a gift card. I have, though, had money posted as a gift card when I've been given money as a courtesy for one thing or another. It then shows up automatically when I place my next order from Amazon (not a third-party) seller.
I don't think that all of us are making this up. Something is off with your experience. But hey, it's your choice.

For me, there's more to a retailer than shopping. I look at the entire company from a business and customer perspective...it's policies, CEO, and is it a good corporate American citizen.
In that respect; although, I don't like everything Walmart does, IMO, it wins hands down.
I've been shopping at Walmart in their stores too long to remember and online for around 12 years and have always been treated with the utmost respect as a customer. I never saw sneaky pricing at Walmart as I have at Amazon. Between the two, I see competitive pricing, one higher or lower than the other. My choice is Walmart even though the price might be a bit higher.
I signed up with Walmart about 3 weeks ago. Since then, I received 5 orders. First month free delivery, then the $98 a year kicks in. There is no minimum order.
So far, I received all of the .com orders same or next day...2 directly from my local store. One of those orders was delivered same day on Saturday, one next day, today, Sunday. Speedy shipping isn't important to me, though.
I actually like Walmart's grocery delivery service much better than the one I had been using and as a Walmart member, there will be no charge for delivery. The last time, the driver delivered the wrong order. Not sure I will use this service again.
I may use Walmart's gas, but I wouldn't use anything from Amazon besides shipping.
Many shoppers love Amazon; however, it's on my "Do Not Shop" list except when I can't get what I want somewhere else.

@Maggie Nolia You are overlooking the choices when you return. Refund by credit may be the default, but you are absolutely getting a choice of having it credited to your Amazon account or to your credit card. I've returned many things to Amazon this way.

@Maggie Nolia I ALMOST ended up with a gift card from Amazon until I caught myself almost pushing the wrong button on the return form. You have the option of your Amazon credit card, Amazon gift card or your own credit card. Of course they place your own credit card option at the bottom of the page in smaller print, so its easy to overlook it and accidentally get processed as a gift card. I don't think its a scam, but it is a sneaky way to capture your money.

As I understand it, the person who brings our groceries to the car when we pickup at WM, is not the person who picked them. And you are correct that WM does not allow tips. That would also put their workers at more risk; they want us to stay in the car with windows up. We can thank them by doing the quick survey we get with out receipt after we pickup. We can say good things there. I don’t know what, if any, extra compensation the workers might get from a good review.
They started doing the stay in the car with your windows up not long ago but were not doing that before.
I don't know why they are doing it now since they come to your drivers side door & want you to open your window when they come out with your groceries.
When they get finished some want you to open window again?
They don't give us a survey or receipt while there. I receive my receipt on email?
Not all Wal-Marts are doing the same. Ours even started staying open to 11 pm a while back.
Our town is not closed down & never really was except a few months last year.

I'm don't care for Amazon's return scam. Suddenly, they don't refund returns to my credit card. They put refund on a "gift card". I never authorized that and do not want it. So I'm paying the credit card but I have a credit on a "gift card". Quite a scam, huh? Sounds like money laundering to me.I've had a long conversation with them already, so it's time for action, thus, my curiosity about WM+.
I have never had this occur when I have a return. My credit card is always credited back. There have even been instances where they told me not to bother returning the item and refunded me.

Did you contact customer service? I've never had an issue with returns or getting a replacement when the wrong item was shipped.

I can't really speak to returns since I have only done exchanges, and that only twice in all the time I have been shopping on Amazon. The most recent I just filled out the exchange info and that the product that arrived was defective. Then, I had a certain amount of time to take my item to Kohls to return it, but they went ahead and sent out my replacement. So, I didn't have to wait for my item to get back to Amazon before the exchange was sent out. Plus, I got a coupon for Kohls when I gave them my return. Don't know if that is standard operating procedure or just good timing.
I get a .03/gallon discount from Korger just by scanning their free discount card at the pump, and if I spend enough there i occasionally get a larger discount. Or, we often go by Costco to get gas, but it's a bit out of the way for me most times.
@SeaMaiden, I have ordered a couple of things lately from Walmart, specifically some discontinued items that they happened to still have in stock, and have had no problems with the process either. But, I don't think I would pay a yearly fee to shop there.

I don't like Walmart, period. We do use Amazon Prime for the free shipping, but it still takes 2-3 weeks to receive our orders.

I have Amazon Prime and they always have refunded me to account I paid with.
