Re: Walking behind a row of cars in a parking lot

I say some of the same things being said on here about the people in the grocery stores..... I am one of the shoppers that has to ride a shopping cart. Believe me when I tell you, people just think those carts can stop on a dime......NO, THEY CAN'T...... I always have people cutting across in front of me going the opposite direction than I am going, and those of us driving one of those carts has to really be on their toes..... And now we have those tiny carts in the stores that have a sign on them saying "customer in training"........ I'd much rather see a small child riding in one of those carts that is like a car......than pushing that little cart and not paying attention where they are pushing it to......

Not everyone using one of those riding carts is a driver on the road, and their reflexes may not be very good.....and most of the riding carts where I shop are really lousy.......

Maybe we need to beep the horn as a notice to some. Of course, if they're hard of hearing, ...

Nah, scratch that idea. a lot full of horns honking, no help!! Uggh

I have more trouble walking my dog down the street. No one ever looks at the sidewalk and barely down the street. I walk up and wait until they see me as they are backing out and then are shocked they could have run us over. I hope it scares them enough to look the next time.

Re: Walking behind a row of cars in a parking lot

Over the weekend, I was leaving the parking lot. I stopped at the pedestrian crossing to let people walk, it's the law here, and the car behind me went around me.

I walk in the middle of a parking lane so drivers can see me better, but I do scan the area for the sound of engines or back up lights.

Re: Walking behind a row of cars in a parking lot

I inch my way out of a parking spot because I'm afraid a pedestrian might be in my blind spot. I also have noticed many of them are not paying attention to what's going on around them, so I automatically assume they don't see my car in motion. I believe it's my responsibility, not theirs, to make sure we don't collide. I just wish they would be as aware of me as I am of them.

Re: Walking behind a row of cars in a parking lot

I inch my way out too, but cars and pedestrians keep on going. Some of them I did not see and would have run into if I wasn't going so slow.

It amazes me when one car is backing up and another starts backing up because they just don't look. I've stood there a few times wondering if someone will notice before there is an accident.

Don't get me started on the people that pull out from where ever they are and don't bother looking. They think they own the roads.

People with small children that let them walk/run by themselves in parking lots should be arrested.

Re: Walking behind a row of cars in a parking lot

People don't realize all of the blind spots in cars. And I am tired of parents letting their children run ahead of them. I once started backing out without realizing there was a child behind my car. She had run ahead of her parents. She wasn't even as tall as my trunk. Thankfully the Mother caught up to her, slammed my trunk with her purse and started cursing me. I had no chance trying to explain. I was left with a dent on my car BUT I would take all of this any day just to know a child wasn't hurt. I have been scared to back up in lots ever since then.

Yeah I notice people walk behind cars (thankfully we have a camera in the car). But more so I notice people back up without looking and well people drive like morons everywhere more than ever!

Re: Walking behind a row of cars in a parking lot

A LOT of people are glued to their smart phones and have no idea where they are.

I never got a message that mesmerizing!

Exactly what I was going to say. That, and in the grocery store I see the same thing while shopping and its cuz they are texting and walking - not, getting their grocery list off their phones.
