I made a discovery (new to me)! While at DGDs cheer competition event over the weekend, available from concession stand, I discovered what a "walking taco" is!

In a bag of Doritos they added browned ground beef, cheese, and lettuce!  WOW

Really, a perfect way to eat at such an event!
I ordered two and shared.

For some reason, I was not hungry for subway on the way there (curvy country roads 🤢) but when arriving at the convention center, I was hungry!

I notice that David has a recipe on here (2017) and so does Albany Irwin (2015).

I noticed the recipe can be varied to be more healthy ... or not!

What a treat!

Do you make these?

Yes, our church made them for an outdoor community event ... they were delicious.  I never heard of a Walking Taco prior to this, but a member did and suggested the idea.  And topping with sour cream is even better-!

@LTT1

It's been around for awhile, have done it with a bag of Fritos, just recently watched a movie on cable called Vengence where the characters were eating this at a county fair, it is pretty tasty too😁

ETA - I first saw this on 'Carnival Eats' on the Discovery Channel with Noah Cappe several years ago, he visits carnivals and fairgrounds across the US, and yes, you do eat it out of the bag with a fork.

I personally haven't made them, but also discovered them at my Granddaughter's Gymnastics Meet last Winter. They were really good and easy to eat at a place like that with tons of people and not much sitting room!

I have on occasion if I have some left over ground beef to put it in a container with a bit of Mexican shredded cheese and some corn chips and heat it up in the toaster oven.

Makes a nice snack!

I found them when I visited Iowa years ago.

I only ate my first one when I went back for vacation a few weeks ago. It's not my thing, but it's a clever idea.

We were at bingo one night while we were there and the kitchen announced they were out of walking tacos. There was a collective groan from the crowd. LOL

They definitely keep Frito Lay in business. There are Frito Lay trucks everywhere including all throughout the cornfields when we drove up to Minnesota. Not a soul in sight except tractors and one lonely Frito Lay truck delivering the chip bags for the walking taco in every county we drove through.  Smiley LOL

Too many calories for just a "snack"...

I'm curious if walking tacos are meant to be finger food?  Seems messy.

@LTT1.  For years, a well-known lunch counter on the Plaza in Santa Fe was famous for its  bag of Fritos with a generous scoop of chile added.  They called it Frito Pie.

So it's taco salad in a bag.
