Frito pie...yes!
My mother used to make her "Frito Pie" as a casserole dish for dinner! It was my FAVORITE THING!
Come to find out..
at that concession stand, I could have had one made with Fritos!
Who knew!
The lowly frito pie...or Dorito walking taco...and now I’m craving craving craving
I'm a junk food junkie!
I like mine pretty bland without onions, sour cream or extra cheese! Just as plain as can be!

I found them kinda messy!
Sitting in the bleachers at a convention stadium...and there we were trying to "balance" each dorito with plenty of ground beef...
kinda tricky!
Although a plastic fork was included, that proved to be a balancing act too lol
My problem with it was that I wanted each delicious mouthful to have all flavors included...
GIANT FAIL on that attempt.
Sitting at a table might have made it easier.

I have had them any number of times....love them.
Messy, yes. But, way easier than navigating real tacos while walking. I have learned to order an "UN-sauced" burrito if I really need to walk!

It sounds delish and reminds me of the Frito pie recipe where you use a small bag of Doritos and put chili and cheese in it. I have never tried either but then I do like my crockery.

@Kachina624 wrote:@LTT1. For years, a well-known lunch counter on the Plaza in Santa Fe was famous for its bag of Fritos with a generous scoop of chile added. They called it Frito Pie.
Did not see your post before I did mine. I adore Frito Pie!!!

@LTT1. I've also mad3 the old fashioned Frito Pie like your mom made.
I always make one large batch of Chile every winter and that's enough of it for me. Freeze in individual servings.

Love them! Squeeze a bit of sour cream inside and a bit of taco sauce, fold the bag over and scrunch it up just a little, eat it with a fork. Delicious! Our bingo for school sports serves them and they always run out!

You'd run out of things to eat in Texas with your bland food preferences. I like mine spicy but not hot. There is often a fine line between spicy and hot.
