Thank you for thinking of DS everyone! Last night we were worried about the tail of the storm, but this morning it seems like it missed NOLA. DS spent some of his time last night visiting his "neighbors" in the room next to him. He went down to the lobby where the generator is and met more people.

Of course I couldn't help myself from giving him "advice," even though he doesn't need it! I told him to make sure his phone had a full charge so he could get an alert in case of a tornado. The hotel across the street from him sustained some damage. He watched shutters, window A/C's, a satellite dish, and part of the roof fall into the street.

He said the noise of the wind was so loud and went on for so long.

The light of day revealed a lot of damage. The power is supposed to be out for weeks. He may fly home- we'll see, but at least I can breathe!

@shoesnbags - I hope you and your family are OK!

I spoke too soon. HE is fine, but he has to evacuate his hotel. The roof caved in on the top floor and there is water damage in the walls. He's trying to get a flight home. Nothing tonight.

ETA: Flight out Wednesday to a state north of here. We will drive up to get him. It was hard to find flights!

@beach-mom  I sow your post and wonderd 'BOSTON?"   Agan with the rain.  What's left of Ida is set to arrive wed. night into thrusday.  Might want to book a room or two now.  Safe driving and a joyous reunion to you and yours.

Thoughts are on all those in the effected areas and those who haven't checked in.

Ida will make her debut in to VA and Maryland around Noon to  2:00PM Wednesday.  But good and bad news.  The good is that she start to speed up (less rain) but it produces more chance of tornadoes. It should be all out of here by midnight.  I have a doctor's appointment on 11AM on Thursday.  If my house and street are still there, I'm going. I'm avoiding looking at the damage (some of the pictures are scary) Here's hoping I won't see row boats on my street.

Another update: Airport is closed. No flights leaving.

He and a hotel guest who rented a car left this morning for Pensacola. He was able to change his flight and will get in after midnight tonight. (She changed her flight too.)

Just in time for the severe weather, flooding, and tornado warnings we're supposed to get tomorrow.  Smiley Frustrated

@shoesnbags - Thinking of you. I hope your generator is holding up and you have clean water.

@candys mine - DD was so upset she had to miss being a bridesmaid in her friend's wedding. She still is. Her friend was always around when DS was young and SHE is concerned about him!

As DD said, she's tired of hurricanes impacting so many lives in different areas of the country. At least Henri wasn't as bad as Ida and New England didn't have a lot of damage. And her best friend from school lives not far from the fires in California.
