If European countries can have their workers receive a living wage, free education and healthcare....we can do it - only bigger & better.
The lifestyle in Europe may not be what it once was...but the same can also be said here. The difference is that European countries share a larger portion of corporate profits with their workers - Germany is a great example.
A German worker at McDonalds doesn't get handed apps for food stamps and medicaid to go along with their new job. They make enough money to live on decently, with some left over too!
If I choose to live the European lifestyle, I would move to Europe. I choose to live in America where I have many more choices to live the way I want.

They also have healthcare for all and many places have FREE college too, for those who score high enough on the admissions exam.
It can be done.
People here just don't seem to have the will anymore to stand up as a group and demand better treatment. The economy is doing just fine. Stocks have never been higher. Someone is making all that money. Workers deserve a fair share of their businesses' success.
Or they can choose to start their own business and work for themselves. Of course they would have to have a lot more than a high school education.

Unless you are Richard Branson, who was a high school dropout...

These things all require that everyone pay more in taxes - as soon as someone in this country raises taxes even a small amount - they are voted out as fast as possible. The Average American thinks he should get everything and it should all be free. Totally unrealistic.

And since that comment has raised some "issues" with me, I just want to say that I consider myself an "average American", and I've never in my entire life gotten anything "free" nor asked for anything "free" from anyone, nor have I asked for any other kind of help... I was a single mom and got no child support for years because back then no one really worried about people like me. I worked my you-know-what off all my life for everything I have, so your statement offends me deeply. As I'm sure it does many other of these "awful" AVERAGE AMERICANS.

Hey Cara, That's a very good question, and one which I will email and ask the moderators. My statement was not very long and I remember what I said. I guess my subsequent post will be deleted as well.
