They are both bad-but I think physical pain is worse.
If the pain is bad enough-it will cause mental anguish.
I'm just thinking of this topic because I have a terrible pain in my lower back and abdomen from a kidney stone at the moment..................

Shouldn't you get to the hospital and get that stone taken care of?

gosh.... let me ponder that and get back to you......... probably NONE. I suffered with HORRIBLE knee pain in both knees for 10 plus years.... when I got to the point of using crutches I knew I was wheel chair bound so got them replaced. Physical pain controls your life... mentally and physically. I hope you get the stone passed or can get help for it.

Neither, but I had my first (and last, I hope) kidney stone back in 2010. Ouch!

At the same time my little Italian mother was battling Alzheimer's, a coworker's little Italian mother was racked with constant, agonizing physical pain. My mother was in her eighties and could bend at the waist and put her palms flat on the floor. She tap danced for her doctors. But her mind was dying.
My coworker's mother was in her nineties and sharp as a tack -- her mind allowed her to be fully aware of the agony she was experiencing. She was on massive doses of morphine with little relief.
The coworker and I always debated this. Which was "better?" Which would we prefer?
I think I know.

I have been suffering from daily physical pain for over ten years now. And I have suffered from mental anguish as well (loss of my beloved sister, other serious family issues).
I'll take the physical pain any day.

I feel the same way Ford. Mental anguish can bring on many physical problems.
